Chinese Man Feigns Getting Hit to Extort Money From Driver

This is one of the most-watched videos on Youku at the moment, with over 1.86 million views…

From Youku:

Just bought a brand new car, and only had a temporary plate. At the bus station I met a “fake injury” scammer trying to extort me. Good thing I had a dash cam to capture the entire incident. I’m posting it online to let all drivers see, and to warn others to be more careful.

Comments on Youku:

Dashboard cameras are so essential, especially in China.

Should’ve just stepped on the gas pedal on him.

A drunkard? But lou zhu’s driving skill is pretty good.

Should play with him more.

He fearlessly climbed up after you “hit” him so many times, such thirst for money, such dedication, what a man. A shame he didn’t die.

I met one of these fake injury scammers in Nanning, good thing we had 4 friends onboard, we were able to scare him off.

Backing up skills are exceptional.

So fake.

These people exist all over China, one dead is one less.

Beautiful, the car driver is very NB, so skilled in backing up!

This brother must be a soccer player, his fake kick is awesome.

Isn’t “faking injury” extortion? If there are no legal restraints, then you should beat the crap out of him, why the hell not!

My uncle THE FRANK FONG made 50,000 rmb last week by doing this…all from the comfort of his sofa

    • bprichard

Why does your uncle format his “THE” different than you? Is this a big controversial point in the FONG clan?

  • Louis Nghiem

    i almost got sofa….

  • YourSupremeCommander

Sofa is sofa king 1990’s, enough with this crap already.

    • Mighty曹

Yeah, that ish is as old as a futon.

      • YourSupremeCommander

        More like a Murphy bed.

        • Mighty曹

          Or the floor.

  • Probotector

    What else is new?

  • donscarletti

Pretty dangerous to reverse like that.

    • mr.wiener

I was more horrified by the driving at the end when they did actually manage to get on the road. What was that, A shared lane in the middle?

  • Mighty曹

I will start a scammers’ acting school offering courses, which will allow the society’s nuisance to hone in on their acting skills so that they can be gainfully employed in the thriving movie industry.

    • YourSupremeCommander

Why else do you think 99.99% of Russians have dash cams? To protect theselves against scammers like the dude wearing an oversized red hat.

      • Mighty曹

The Russian dash cams are for making video compilations to post on Youtube not to protect from dudes with oversized Darth Vader helmets.

        • YourSupremeCommander

I waz talking about this dude.

          • Mighty曹

            Dat’s one cool cat!

          • Marcus Black

            hahaha lolled so hard cuz.

          • Mighty曹

Hey Marcus, how’s going? Good seeing you. It’s been a while!

          • linette lee

      • Germandude

They are not protection for scammers.

The cameras are mainly for insurance reasons. Installing a camera into your car will first lead to a slightly lower insurance fee and second, provide evidence for the insurances to fight scammers (therefore the lower fee if installed).

They are also a measure for fighting corruption, especially police corruption. As in: Drunk police officer has no money left to go home. Goes to your car and gives you a ticket.

        Only in Russia…

        • linette lee

police give you a ticket but how do you pay the money for the ticket? Don’t they mail it to the department of motor vehicle in Russia? They just pay cash to the police right there when the ticket is given?

          • Anna Presman

Russian cops do it all the time. You just give them money and they forget about the ticket.

          • linette lee

Oh….bribery. The Russians are worst than Chinese. They ask for money while they are drunk….lol
I don’t think the Chinese police dare to give you ticket and ask for money, especially when they drunk themselves. But Chinese officials they do lots of bribery too.

          • Kai

There are unscrupulous power-abusing police everywhere. Probably not a good idea trying to rank between Russians and Chinese. People’s feelings are just gonna get hurt.

  • Terrik

Seeing as how Im about to start driving a car in China, I think a dash cam might be in order.

    • A Gawd Dang Mongolian

Or an axe. I find their legs are suddenly healed when an axe is pulled out.

  • mr.wiener

That music was so gay…and not in a good way.

    • carmouflagger

O.o but.. but i rocked my head to it

  • Teacher in China

Man, that was classic. I was half expecting to see him pop up out of nowhere at the end again, popping out from behind one of the other cars. What a dumbass.

  • Probotector

Look at the way he keeps trying to get in the path of the car. Maybe he saw stock footage of tankman in Tienanmen Square from ’89 and thought “what a great idea!”

  • narsfweasels

Get out of the car and beat him to death. Turn the camera off for that part, obviously.

  • Zen my Ass

Chinese should sue their government just for being Chinese.

  • Nate B.

They should do bait car, but with scammers… After that I wouldn’t mind putting them up to a firing squad.

  • diverdude7

cool. should be a way to get the guy a few 100 for providing this entertainment to us masses… or make some kinda tv program like they use to have… something about ‘funniest home videos’ or something like that… this was a definite contender for the title.
In all seriousness what a world we live in to drive people to such desperate acts.

  • Marcus Black

So what you’re saying is foot binding and slow slicing are moral conducts? Since the Chinese had “so much” morality back then.

  • mr.wiener

    We have a navy?

  • Gerhana

Unrelated to the topic, just need some recommendation from cSmacker movie connoisseur. Any recommendation for a movie(s) that are similar to Blade Runner? So far only the new Total Recall but it lean towards action (despite amazing sci-fi setting). Is there any world weary detective in a cyberpunk setting sci-fi movie out there that I havent heard of? the year doesnt matter to me.

    • Germandude

Mad Max 1 and Mad Max 2
      Twelve Monkies?
      Metropolis (movie from the 1920s)

Hope that helps. Could be totally wrong though.

      • Gerhana

thanks GD, ive watched Mad Max and Twelve Monkies but not metropolis.

    • Lei Feng’s Hat

It’s not cyber-punk, but give Soylent Green a try. It stars Chuck Heston. Can’t go wrong with Chuck.

      • Probotector

Lol, love your moniker, and the hat’s probably the only thing about Lei Feng that’s real.

        • Mighty曹

Speaking of moniker, Chuck Heston was a nice touch too.

      • Gerhana

        ok thanks for the recommendation

      • Mighty曹

“Soylent green is yummy! Soylent green is yummy!”

    • Mighty曹

      I’m sure you’ve seen ‘I, Robot’ so I won’t mention it here.

Btw, have you seen the Japanese movies that we talked about? Namely the Kurosawa ones.

      • Gerhana

I did I watch the Seven Samurai and The Hidden Fortress, interesting character portrayal and of course the cinematography was great. Now a days I am looking for science fiction especially the old one because unlike the modern one, they focus on story more than action so each movies are unique and interesting. The modern one more or less have the same theme. Just different characters and setting.

        • Mighty曹

I highly recommend ‘Avalon’. The story/plot is more intense than the action. I’m with you, I don’t care for exaggerated explosions and excessive pepper spray shootings.

    • linette lee

Surrogates. Just watch Bruce Willis movies. He does lots of action movie and he is usually in some very good action films.

      • Gerhana

ive seen it but im not really looking for action movie. I am not really a fan of hollywood action movie actually. But Surrogate was good I did enjoy it and Looper too

  • mr.wiener

Does this mean the Chinese are going to claim the great barrier reef as traditionally theirs?

  • Paul Schoe

  • linette lee

He is a bad actor. lol

  • Mighty曹

It’s a standard practice and an integral part of the game in FIFA.
    1) Player makes contact

    2) Drops to the ground
    3) Grabs one shin with both hands
    4) Grimaces in excruciating pain
    5) Looks around to ensure Referee is watching
    6) Waits for Referee to flash yellow/red card
    7) Hops up and runs full speed.

    • Kai

Number one reason why I can’t fully respect the sport even if it is the world’s most popular.

      • Mighty曹

There should be a ‘flopping’ penalty.

    • mr.wiener
      • Mighty曹

H้ahahahah… LMAO!!! Even Beckham was not vain like that.

  • comradewang

  • MrBboy

Happens here in Taiwan occasionally as well, there are quite some nice epic fails on youtube haha.

  • commander

I was wondering how these small time scammers will react when they choose wrong persons for swindle like a ganster or high ranking party offcial.

  • Brent

You know you haven’t been to China in a while when you are more appalled at this guy driving on the opposite side of the road at the end rather than the scammer.

  • Dr Sun

This is all trivial crap, where is Chinasmack’s coverage of the mass killings in Kunming today, 24 dead, hundreds injured, its the only thing being read on Weibo, thousands of posts each minute

    • Michael Britten

Chinasmack, to my knowledge, don’t cover news as it happens – they translate what is popular right now sometimes days (sometimes weeks) after the fact. Translation takes time, and this is obviously a very sensitive subject so I doubt they’re gonna dive right into it. The existence of this story does not imply they are ignoring a more “worthy” one.

Why not just check forums, news sites and weibo until then?

      • The FRED FONG

maybe you should start your own website and post information that is already on every website in the world…that would be awesome!!

      • Kai

Thanks, not to mention it’s kinda unfair to hate on Joe for a “trivial crap” post he published on Feburary 28th, an entire day before the Kunming attack actually happened.

    • donscarletti

You answered it yourself when you used the word “today”.

Chinasmack is not a site for breaking news, it reviews the discussion afterwards after someone has the time to collect and translate enough comments for it to be interesting.

Want a story on the Kunming killing before the end of the day? Translate it yourself and submit it.

    • The FRED FONG

…..maybe you should start your own website and post information that is already on every website in the world…that would be awesome!!

  • JRule

    Pathetic. What a loser!

  • mr.wiener
    • Claude

I can’t see why it wouldn’t be Uighur separatists. Meaning, the state has no reason to lie. Who else could be so extreme? What confuses me is why they didn’t use guns that would of been smuggled in through the same roads the heroin trade is trafficked through, Afghanistan, Pakistan or Tajikistan. You can throw a stick and find a dealer to buy a gun in those countries.

  • JackElliot

    That was an epic juke.

  • Themasterdoctor

run him over he deserves what he gets

  • Kai

I don’t recommend Almost Human. I actually feel bad for Karl Urban. It has some amusing moments but there’s just something very second-rate about it.

  • the ace of books

So he’s uploaded a dashboard cam of this guy jumping down in front of his car, trying to scam him, and the driver evading and driving away …. and then the video shows him casually driving against the flow of traffic.

There is a disconnect here somewhere, I can feel it.

  • Gordon Gogodancer

I love the way the driver dodges him and how he finally drives away showing off his “driving skills” overtaking everyone like any common dickhead
The whole situation is so hilarious and so pathetic at the same time.

  • President Skroob

He hit him. He fucking hit him. The stupid bastard couldn’t be fucked to stop his car and was still rolling when the other stupid bastard walked into him!

  • loki

    buying dash camera tomorrow…. (seriously)

  • Ralphrepo

By the time the scammer had jumped in front of the car a third time, I think the driver SHOULD have hit him and as hard as he could, thereby killing him; with the video, it would be clear proof that the man was actually committing suicide by purposely and willfully jumping into the path of a moving vehicle.
