Daughter Falls Into Elevator Shaft, Father Follows To Rescue

A three-year old girl who fell into a freight elevator was saved by her father after he unhesitatingly followed suit, jumping over 10m into the watery well at the bottom. Xiao Ke (alias) was taking the stairs when she leaned against the disused elevator’s doors, and fell into the shaft after they suddenly opened. Following behind, Mr. Dai managed to drag his daughter, who had chipped her tooth and grazed her lip, to the surface in the pitch-black conditions, and was sent to hospital with a fractured vertebra after being rescued by firemen. Many netizens said they would have done the same.

It’s really dangerous to move someone who has damaged their spine. I would have gone in, but I would have waited for the EMTs to take her out.

I agree, as a father you’ve gotta go in. But I think they’re saying he’s the one with the fractured vertebrae man. Had to read it 3x and look at the pic, cuz its a little confusing.
I do know that if it happened in the US he’d have an ironclad lawsuit tho.

Yeah I was thinking that as well. It’s not so clear whose back was injured. If it is him, I can’t say I would have made whatever leap he made to do that.

I wish him luck with any “lawsuit” he might file here.

Unless he or his family has some friends in high places, he’ll probably get a minimum handout and be “encouraged” to move on.

Kids tend to bounce for some reason… full marks to her dad for diving on in. ..but I’d be worried about landing on her and want to climb down.. hindsight vision is 20/20 I know.
