Footage has surfaced on the internet of a brawl breaking out that involved officials and spectating public at a local representatives meeting in Chahe, Fengnan. Village chief Liu Jian had spoken just a few words when his microphone was intercepted by village party committee secretary Zhang Junhua. Following a brief altercation, a woman approached and started another wrangle, shortly after smashing a window by throwing the mic. The scene got more messy after many onlookers joined in, throwing punches and chairs alike. One netizen said the mic snatching highlighted how much freedom of speech was valued.
