News Center Maintains Villager Burnt Himself To Death

Pingyi County News Center has countered witnesses’ claims that Houdonggu villager Zhang Jimin was burnt to death in his house after molotovs were thrown in by saying that Zhang committed self-immolation instead. The center said that nine liters of gasoline was bought under Zhang’s name from a local gas station on September 11 and 13 prior to his death on the 14th, and that preliminary investigation eliminates the possibility of others causing the fire. A relative of Zhang called the deduction “absurd”, saying that Zhang’s body was found with his pants largely unburnt. One netizen speculated a fake ID was used to buy the gas.
