An indignant old woman who falsely believed her bank had stolen her money smashed up two service-evaluation devices with bricks in retaliation. Mrs. Lin had deposited 69,000 RMB into her bank account at a Postal Savings Bank of China in Gulou, Nanjing. However, her husband later read “69,000.00 RMB” as “690 RMB” on the deposit receipt. Believing him, the furious Mrs. Lin marched to the bank with three bricks. Lin was pacified on police intervention after the misunderstanding was explained by bank staff, and has agreed to pay 500 RMB in compensation. One netizen said the offense should attract a 10 day sentence.
