Unable To Post Comments? Contact Us Immediately!

Hi everyone,

I have received reports from chinaSMACK readers that they are repeatedly unable to post comments. For example, they may receive an error message such as:

Sorry, there was an error. JavaScript and Cookies are required in order to post a comment.

Please be sure JavaScript and Cookies are enabled in your browser. Then, please hit the back button on your browser, and try posting your comment again. (You may need to reload the page)

We have tested this and have confirmed that there is a problem. Visitors have not been able to post comments since ~4am China Time.

We are investigating the problem and hope to fix it as soon as possible. Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and understanding.

UPDATE: Fixed.

UPDATE 2: We’ve seen this problem occur again this morning and we have fixed it again so comments can be posted again. However, we are afraid the problem will occur again so we are investigating further. If you discover that you are unable to post comments despite multiple attempts, please contact us immediately so we can apply our temporary fix until we solve the underlying issue.

Fauna is a mysterious young Shanghainese girl who lives in the only place a Shanghainese person would ever want to live: Shanghai. In mid-2008, she started chinaSMACK to combine her hobby of browsing Chinese internet forums with her goal of improving her English. Through her tireless translation of popular Chinese internet news and phenomenon, her English has apparently gotten dramatically better. At least, reading and writing-wise. Unfortunately, she's still not confident enough to have written this bio, about herself, by herself.
