Police Release Details Of Gun Battle With Hostage-Taker

Lu’an police have released further details of a gun battle with an outlaw in which two innocent passersby sustained bullet wounds. The standoff, which occurred in March, started after a minibus driver in Jin’an district pulled a gun on inspecting traffic police who considered his vehicle to be suspicious. The man first escaped to a textile factory, but was soon forced to a nearby internet café after police besieged him. There, he took 16 people hostage and exchanged over 20 gun shots with police in an eight-hour standoff, after which he was captured. One netizen said reports are often delayed to “save face”.
