Ramblers Provoke Outrage For Picking Protected Flowers

A group of ramblers has sparked outrage after its members posted pictures online of them flaunting an illegal haul of Snow Lotuses picked at the Tianshan mountain range in Xinjiang. Mountain Rescue leader Yang Jun said he was browsing an outdoor activity website when he stumbled across the pictures of the 31-member group on route C of the Wolf Tower trail posing with over 100 protected flowers valued at between 20 and 50 RMB each. Yang’s reposting of them on Weibo attracted a big response, with one netizen suggesting a fine of 10x the haul’s value. Police are investigating the matter.
