Shaolin Abbot Prays For Tianjin Explosion Victims
Shaolin Abbot Shi Yongxin has lead a prayer at the Songshan Buddhist monastery for the victims of the Tianjin explosion which occurred on August 12. Hundreds of temple disciples gathered at 5:00am on the 14th to take part in a solemn and respectful prayer during which the sutras were chanted for over an hour. The event included prayers for protection of the wounded and for peace and prosperity. However, many netizens’ reactions were influenced by the recent spat of illicit scandals surrounding the Abbot, with one saying that now he always seems to be guilelessly stuck in the temple, which wasn’t the case before.
