Singer Sues Imitator For Name And Portrait Infringement

Chinese singer Jiang Feng recently filed a lawsuit against lookalike Ding Yong for name and portrait right infringement. Jiang seeks a total of 500,000 RMB in compensation from Jiang, 50,000 RMB of which is for mental distress. Ding, who has used Jiang’s name and image on his Weibo account for commercial propaganda purposes, was formerly claimed to have approached a plastic surgery clinic in Changchun with an impersonator of Jiang’s fiancée and actress Zhang Ziyi for surgery to make them look like their idols. One netizen said Jiang was only concerned with the relatively small sum due to gambling losses.
