TV Anchor Sentenced For Instigating Fight With Taxi Driver
Former TV anchor Qiu Qiming has received an eight month suspended prison sentence from Huangpu Court for instigating a fight. Qiu was partying with others at the Jin Jiang Tower Hotel in Shanghai, and on leaving, sought a taxi. After a driver declined him, a scuffle broke out, upon which another driver (victim Zhao Kun) intervened and stopped the fight. Disgruntled, Qiu called three men down who then proceeded to beat up Zhao, which landed them seven-month sentences. The four defendants also compensated Zhao 500,000 RMB, causing one netizen to question if such a heavy ruling would be given to commoners.
