Lyrics (Original Chinese, Pinyin Romanization, and English Translation):

在山水之间
zai4 shan1 shui3 zhi1 jian1
Between the mountains and waters

在佛塔之间
zai4 fo2 ta3 zhi1 jian1
Between the Buddhist pagodas

在聚散之间
zai4 ju4 san4 zhi1 jian1
Between meetings and partings

在你我之间
zai4 ni3 wo3 zhi1 jian1
Between you and me

在山水之间 有一份信念 是静默无言
zai4 shan1 shui3 zhi1 jian1 you3 yi2 fen4 xin4 nian4 shi4 jing4 mo4 wu2 yan2
Between mountains and waters is the faith called silence

在佛塔之间 有一条经幡 是为你挂牵
zai4 fo2 ta3 zhi1 jian1 you3 yi4 tiao2 jing1 fan1 shi4 wei4 ni3 gua4 qian1
Between the Buddhist pagodas is a sutra streamer hung up for you

在聚散之间 有一劫宿缘 是无常善变
zai4 ju4 san4 zhi1 jian1 you3 yi4 jie2 su4 yuan2 shi4 wu2 chang2 shan4 bian4
Between meetings and partings is a fated encounter that’s impermanent

在你我之间 有一缕思念 是魂绕梦牵
zai4 ni3 wo3 zhi1 jian1 you3 yi4 lv3 si1 nian4 shi4 hun2 rao4 meng4 qian1
Between you and me is a wisp of longing that’s living in my dreams

此生 上路 哪怕天绝地穿
ci3 sheng1 shang4 lu4 na3 pa4 tian1 jue2 di4 chuan1
In this life, I hit the road, through the heavens fall

只愿 途中 能再与你 相见
zhi3 yuan4 tu2 zhong1 neng2 yu3 ni3 xiang1 jian4
I only wish to meet you again somewhere along the way

嗡嘛呢呗嚒哄舍 (repeat)
ong ba ni bei miao ong que
Om Mani Padme Hung Hri (repeat)

Notes:

"Om mani padme hung" script.

This song uses the Nyingma version of the mantra of compassion, or the six syllabled mantra of Avalokiteshvara: “Om Mani Padme Hung.” This mantra of compassion is the primary mantra that has been used in Tibetan prayer wheels since the 7th Century:

  1. Om” has various meanings. Here it can be interpreted as “to praise;”
  2. “Mani” literally means “changeable jewels.” Here it refers to fickle human nature;
  3. “Padme” literally means “red lotus.” Here it refers to the unpolluted nature of mind;
  4. “Hung” has various meanings. Here it can be interpreted as “reaching an epiphany through numerous obstacles and returning to one’s original nature.”

The mantra of “Om Mani Padme Hung” can not really be translated into a simple phrase or even a few sentences. A tentative synthesis could be: “I’m willing to be converted by you, Avalolkiteshvara. I wish to retain under your guidance the unpolluted nature of mind, and to achieve my goals through epiphanies of Truth.”
