Girlfriend No-Show, Man Waits By Train Station for 20 Years

A Taiwanese man has transformed from a well dressed, healthy young man into a ragged hobo after waiting by the Tainan train station for over 20 years. The man fell in love with a Tainan woman, and the two agreed on a time to meet at the train station, but after the woman didn’t show up, the man never left. Social workers provide him with clothes, kind people passing by give him food and he washes in the public bathroom. Some netizens were touched by his dedication to love, while others said he was a nutcase.

One question. Why did CSmack lose advertisers? Censorship, financial disputes? Just wondering.

        • Alex Dương

Sorry, I don’t know exactly why. I think it would be irresponsible of me to speculate.

  • Amused

Ummmmm. Does it seem like the “new” Chinasmack has a lot of stories that seem like bullshit? I’m not bitching, just wondering if this is part of the new vision.

why come to your site for good news when we want some dirty China news that are not so easily accessible in China or even in western news press? Your existence has become minimal and shall fade away in an exponential rate.

    • Alex Dương

The point of chinaSMACK was never to provide “dirty China news.” It was to show that at the end of the day, Chinese and non-Chinese aren’t so different after all. The way it used to do this was to translate what was popular and trending in China, including the netizens’ comments. If what was popular and trending happened to be “dirty,” that was incidental.

chinaSMACK still translates what’s popular and trending, but shorter articles like this are part of the web site moving forward.

Even if Chinasmack existence will fade away because of this, so will your participance here aswell, should we celebrate when that happens? I’ll toast one up for you and shall say, good riddance.

This too tells us how some Chinese people think.

Have to go with “Nutcase” on this one. A week is dedicated, anything past that is the failure to accept reality.

  • KamikaziPilot

There’s literally zero background on anything that went on prior to this planned meeting. How did they meet? How long did they know each other? Did they ever meet in person? Was the girl even real?

    • James

they met through eharmony, 10 years, yes, and yes.

“Going back to the corner, where I first saw you, gonna camp in my sleeping bag, I’m not gonna move…” literally…
