Guangxi High School Goes to Extremes With Motivational Slogans

The National Higher Education Entrance Examination (Gao Kao) is a very tough time for Chinese students, and they often hang motivational slogans in their classrooms to give them that extra push before the big test. One classroom in a High School in Guangxi went to extremes, with banners saying “If you can lift it, then lift it. If you cannot lift it, try until you die.” A highly up-voted netizen comment said: “First I wish you all good luck. In 4 years you’ll get it. Essentially, all of your hard work today is useless. Knowledge and culture can’t change your fate. The thing that really matters is your parents. And how you look. ”

Definitely more of a sarcastic awareness raiser than a call to give up.
Seems a better response would be to reflect on these issues and use them as reminders that who we are is more important than how we look.

I mean, your idea is useful too. Little pat on the head for ya there. I’m just providing some clarity for those people who are ok with life and just wanna improve it :)

I think comment noted is a highly relevant and correct use of sarcasm, isn’t it? A tale of how superficial and farcical our world is. Well said.
