Man Misdiagnosed as Pregnant, Hospital Officials Sign Diagnosis

A man in Sichuan decided to go to the hospital after the bloating in his stomach became unbearable. After staying 6 days at the Yibin No. 2 People’s Hospital, he was released with a certificate of diagnosis that said he was 3 months pregnant. The certificate, which was obviously wrong, was even signed and confirmed by the medical team leader and a senior doctor. An employee at the Medical Affairs Office said episodes like this expose gaps that exist on many levels in the hospital’s present system. The incident is currently under investigation from the Yibin Health and Family Planning Committee.
