New Zhuhai Regulation Makes Limit: One Dog Per Household

One Dog Policy

In Zhuhai, Guangdong, a new regulation has just passed forbidding households from raising more than one dog. The rule, which goes into effect in June, prevents a household from raising more than one dog regardless of the number of homes they own. In addition, if a landlord owns a dog, their tenant is not allowed to raise one. Some netizens, weary of dog feces scattered around their community were glad to see the regulation put in place, while others jokingly commented that “Even dogs in China have to obey the one child policy”.

I really dislike stories about new Chinese regulations. They never happen. They’re only for the benefit of being in the news. No honking, no jaywalking, drunk driving, and even the one dog policy. They introduced this regulation to Shanghai four years ago and never enforced it.
