Zeng Yike’s Response To Plagiarism Dumbfounds Everyone

Several days ago, Chinese BBS forums were busy with the discovery and accusation that former Happy Girls contestant Zeng Yike may have plagiarized the music of one of her “original” songs titled “Leo” from a Taiwanese musician. Go listen and compare here.

Now, Zeng Yike has made a statement, and her response to this allegation of plagiarism has left many people completely dumbfounded:

Let me borrow this thread to say something. NetEase editor, can you not post “Zeng Yike” abbreviated “Brother Zeng” images on the homepage?? The reason is because every time I see these photos I will feel upset/uncomfortable, my head dizzy, eyes blurry, nauseous, want to vomit, black out. You can put them in some corner of the entertainment section, and those who like them can go find them themselves.     Chinese plagiarism? What next, will you tell me the Easter Bunny, Santa Clause and the Tooth Fairy arent real?

    Brother Zeng attained enlightenment. She looks like myriad females and males are reflected in one body. Her singing truly reflects “not relying on words”. When she singing, sounds we hear is in our mind only. Number of her fans in concert hall is void. As myriad things in universe are one, the song written by someone else are written by her.

    A Master, indeed!

    This is stupid. Anybody who writes pop songs (especially on the guitar) knows there’s only so many chord patterns in a major scale and anything you can come up with has inevitably been used before by someone else. There are SO MANY popular songs with exactly the same chords, it’s insane. Anybody who writes music gets over the concept of originality pretty quickly – there’s really no such thing.

    It seems like she’s just saying that somewhere out there someone else came up with a really similar song, and that’s kind of weird and interesting.
