Laowai insulting Chinese woman on the street incites crowd’s anger

Yesterday afternoon around 6pm, a laowai riding in a BYD and a Chinese woman riding an electric scooter had a traffic dispute. The laowai claims the woman hit his car and slapped the woman twice on the spot and spat on her, inciting the resentment of city residents…!

Most of the beginning of the video are members of the crowd explaining what happened and expressing anger as well as identifying the foreigner in the car as having a piece of paper with Walmart written on it in his shirt pocket possibly indicating that he works for the American company.

At 2:00, a fat man says the ordinary common people would not be happy with the foreigner driving away whereas if he were to be towed away, it would feel like a victory to them.

At 3:00 in the video, the foreigner is transferred into a police truck which promptly drives away. The upset crowd then calls to trash his car. The crowd cheers when one of the car doors is dented while police then try to keep the crowd away from the vehicle. The rear windshield is also revealed to have been shattered.

A police officer off-camera asks the crowd to leave and trust that the matter will be handled by them. A woman in a green-blue shirt in the crowd asks the police if the foreigner could make an apology online. A police officer in a grey shirt assures them that he will handle this properly. The woman begins crying asking: “Why must us Chinese be like this? Why is it like this? We demand that he must make an apology, make an apology on the internet, he must. Why did he spit on us Chinese people? Why? Apologize. He must apologize to Chinese people.”

Finally, the officer in gray says: “Listen, this matter, I’ll take it back [to the police station], I will deal with it properly, and if it isn’t handled properly, I’ll quit. I promise everyone, don’t worry.” The crowd claps and disperses having received such an assurance.

Comments from Youku:

冬天里皓雪:

Just what actually happened is something we have no way of know, all we see are those blindly shouting. I’m against men hitting women, but I’m of course also against locals bullying wai di ren, and even more opposed to our country men bullying foreigners. Why can’t people just get along with other people? When we don’t know what the truth of the situation is, don’t blindly follow others in shouting. Everyone has their moments when they are in a foreign place. Just what exactly happened?

日月更迭:

I personally feel if the police were to take his side/cover up for him, it will actually end up hurting all the foreigners in China including him, because the next time this kind of thing happens, the ordinary common people will no longer believe the police, and will simply immediately cause the situation to get out of control. So, I hope the police will treat this seriously and fairly, justly, and publicly handle this matter.

RyanYy_0001:

The trouble mainly lies in the police handling of matters involving foreign nationals never once being fair and impartial, whereas they’re always happy to immediately find a bicycle within hours or sift through garbage.

[Note: This comment refers to two notable instances that occurred earlier this year. The first involved Wuhan police quickly finding a lost bicycle for a Japanese national. The second involved Ningbo police sifting through tons of garbage to find a Russian national’s passport that was mistakenly thrown away. Instances like these have made many Chinese people resentful about what they feel is preferential treatment for foreigners.]

水草玻璃猪:

Based on my observations, Chinese people abroad are all very cautious and prudent when it comes to fights and arguments, afraid of being deported. However, for Western trash to be so arrogant on Chinese territory, just who gave them the nerve??? If this garbage isn’t deported, then this entire matter will have been as if nothing was done at all. This kind of Westerner that thinks of themselves as being a higher level of person should be killed while he’s in China, but instead he’s let go completely intact. This poor woman. I support prosecuting/suing him, human flesh search [him]!

kiki139:

Let me tell you guys, that laowai is a high level manager of Walmart, who has come to China so many years. He does have a nice car abroad. This BYD is only a means of transportation for him here. Provided by the company. Walmart is so niu. Too niu. These past two years, Walmart supermarket scandals have been frequent. Either its expired food products or pricing fraud, or selling ordinary pork for over 100 [RMB] per half kilogram. Yet these kind of things don’t happen with this niu company in other countries.

蔡晓驰:

Whenever our own countrymen are bullied, I see that it isn’t everyone who is indignant, and that there are many people who even speak in defense of foreigners, thinking Chinese people must’ve been wrong somewhere, how Chinese people’s character’s are so low/poor. No matter what, he becoming physical is a fact, right? Him, a large man, striking a woman like this, do you guys think this is right? Also, those saying the crowd shouldn’t be using dirty language, yes, using coarse language is not good, but when you’re angry, I simply refuse to believe you don’t want to utter a few curse words!

DJ韩涛:

Henan people, gei li! This matter requires netizens to remember two faces, one is that arrogant foreigner’s face; the other is the face of the person in charge who promised that the matter would be fairly dealt with. All people pay attention to what the final result of this matter is.

龙爷K死你:

I as a Zhengzhou person would not believe the police! Zhengzhou has finally persuaded Walmart to invest there, you know what that means!

海阔天空屋:

How did this dispute specifically happen? Whose mistake was it? It’s not in the video! But based on what I know, Zhengzhou’s electric scooters are also a mess, driving around everywhere on the roads, not observing traffic rules, with accidents happening again and again. There are explicit laws that say electric scooters are motor vehicles but in practice they’re still treated as non-motor vehicles… very troublesome, very thorny… but no matter what, this laowai hitting someone is wrong, and he doesn’t even stop to consider whose country he’s in!

雪子_2092:

Our countrymen are still too honest/naive, still afraid of foreigners. China’s ordinary common people are oppressed by useless officials and regarded as inferior by foreigners. Should’ve just smashed the car and dragged him out! Be polite with polite people, but with this kind of beast, force must be used against force. If you’re too polite to him, he’ll just look down on you and only be defending yourself will he respect you! Must be an American, a Walmart tag is even hanging on his clothes!

瓤茬儿:

When can this be dealt with as an normal incident? When can it not be emphasized that this is foreigners bullying Chinese? When can we look at the matter from the perspective of simple right or wrong? I didn’t see what happened, so I have doubts, and I won’t simply escalate this to national hate just because the other person is a foreigner, making it about the Eight-Nation Alliance and the humiliation of the Manchurian Qing Dynasty, much less go smash a car. When I think about it, this is rather disappointing~

dabao137066:

The laowai around Bruce Lee only began respecting him after he taught them a lesson. According to what some SBs say about “winning people with virtue/overcoming people with kindness”, especially for those Americans who have grown up in a culture of violence, you trying to reason with him about right and wrong will just result in them regarding you as weak. Do you know why the Japanese respect the Americans? Was it not because they were beaten into fear? In the video, the American struck first, and he hit a woman. According to what some SB’s say, should we invite the American home for a meal and then tell him what he did was bad, and that this is a civilized country…

快乐DEswallow:

Last time in Chengdu, an intersection was so jammed that a 120 [ambulance] carrying a patient was trapped. At the time, it was the afternoon rush hour and there weren’t any traffic police but a bicycling threw down his bike and began directing traffic at the intersection to create an opening, using body language and hand signs when he couldn’t communicate verbally, ultimately with the ambulance escaping the jam under his help. There are good and bad everyone. I hope the country can improve its laws involving foreigners, and restrict [screen] the laowai in China.

[Note: This comment is referring to a well-known incident earlier this year mentioned in a translated comment in this post and seen in this video.]

阿美妹、:

Actually, our Chinese citizens are not that uncivilized. At the time, had that foreigner just bravely came out of the car and calmly apologized to that woman and apologized to the people, I trust our countrymen would definitely not have physically attacked him or insulted him. It’s just that foreigner doesn’t understand our people, thinking everyone is very impulsive when actually we just wanted him to say sorry and it would’ve been enough.

BH4CAT:

Asking for an apology is not wrong, but smashing windows and kicking the car door is definitely wrong, and doing this only shows the low/poor characters of our country’s citizens. In the video there is someone who keeps instigating people to overturn the car. Is his motivation truly to get justice for the woman that was hit? I don’t think so, taking advantage of the opportunity to vent is probably more likely than demanding justice for her, and the minority of people who end up participating in smashing the car have the same attitude! Reasonable demands that depend on extreme behavior will never be successfully realized.

What do you think? Are Chinese people justified in believing foreigners receive preferential treatment from the authorities? Do you agree with their reaction to this incident? Their anger? Their behavior? Do you trust the police will handle this matter properly?

i’m surprised the crowd didn’t try to overturn that car or break the windows while he was sitting inside and give him a mob beating. I guess once the laowai realized he was surrounded by an angry mob he just decided to get back into his car and lock himself inside.

      • Risible

@Simon. Hello my ‘foreign’ chinese friend with good English. You have a comment waiting in reply to your earlier one on the Japanese Island issue. Why not go to that page and reply? Did you think you could get away from it? Hahaha. And now you seem to avoid me? Oh come on! Don’t be like thaaaat!. I had actually got bored of that page but your last minute word compelled me to return there and um, set a few things straight.

I don’t expect a reply. Not a coherent one in any case. Have fun;-) Oh, you may need someone to comfort you after. Look for Linette. She may soothe you. She’s from HK, classy, educated, difficult to sit next to, CEO, young, likes men to open doors for her-foreigners particularly, you may not be ‘foreign’ foreign but, you appear to be chinese ethnically so, if you have that ‘movie star’ air about you, it may be worthwhile.

That’s if you have any face left…

Linnette, even YOU can’t blame me for the reply to simon if i promise to be nice to you (temporarily of course) ;-)

Hmmm…the laowai spat. Technically, he has localized. No longer foreigner.

    • mr. wiener

Gone native !?! How dare you say that!! I ought to slap you!!
But I’ll accept an apology, otherwise I will cry “Why is it like this? I demand that you must make an apology, make an apology on the internet, you must. Why do you spit on us Chinese people?[metophorcally] Why? Apologize. You must apologize the Chinese people.”

        Anger management needed :D

I agree with 阿美妹. Based on my encounters with angry Chinese, if the other party takes the initiative to apologize, the hot air will dissipate almost instantly. That’s regardless of who’s right or wrong.

My theory – a matter of ‘face’, again.

You made my day, Mr.Wiener. Now, seriously, if he was a driver, I can understand that. I myself have had numerous brawls with superior (I keep in mind your remark on 5000 years or so of history of cars in Chinaland you have once made) Chinamen drivers, twice ending violently. Somehow I didn’t make to media yet…

  • GodsHammer

He is wrong for hitting and spitting on her (if he did actually do that). I would quickly like to see the exact spot that he hit her in. Some evidence please…he looks like a big man, so this should be easy. 2nd of all, prior to him allegedly hitting her why should he ‘exit the car and apologize’? In my experience the retards on the electric scooters are usually wrong.
3rd… yes he should know better etc…but how does his action merit apologies to ‘the Chinese!!! Fuck off!!! We are all people, and if you and I have a problem doesn’t mean that I owe everyone surnamed Wang an apology. Stupid kneejerk tribal mentality.

    • Risible

@G’Hammer, you want to see exactly where she got slapped? ;-) The rear end I should think. It must have made her quiver into an oblivious state of intoxication, hence the need to spit at her to bring her back to reality.

Besides, spitting is a national sport in mainland china. No? It’s a problem if a foreigner is better at it?

Chill out people, no big deal. Woman got slapped and spat on. Happens all the time in mainland china. Locals are just jealous that he got there first.

      • GodsHammer

I say that I need evidence, because I’ve been in similar situation before. People that I never hit, claimed that I hit them… my answer is..’where?’

Chinese woman slaps man repeatedly for being late for appointment

A video of a woman who repeatedly slapped a man for turning up late for an appointment has surfaced on the Internet.

The woman is reportedly Taiwanese, according to a Straits Times Online Mobile Print (STOMP) report, entitled, ‘In Taiwan, it’s the women who slap the men’.

In the same report, the reader who forwarded the video to STOMP, said the video is probably shot in Taiwan,
and the man is being punished because he was late for an appointment.

The STOMP reader found it disturbing that there seems to be an online proliferation of such videos showing physical abuse, especially of women hitting men. The woman in the video was also much larger than the man.

In an email to STOMP, the reader said: “There seems to be a rise in such videos showing physical violence online.

“I stumbled on this video online, and it seems to be from Taiwan.

“The guy is apparently being punished by the woman, for being late for their appointment.

“I’m not sure what kind of relationship they are in; the guy doesn’t even flinch when taking the abuse from the woman!

“We can even see the face of the woman near the end of the video.”

Late last year, STOMP also reported a woman caught on film for whacking a male friend below the belt with high heeled shoe.

The white/black baboons swarm to China living on Chinese people by teaching kids how to sing ABC.They steal & screw Chinese girls indiscriminately and flaunt about it and now they are going way across the line raping/beating Chinese women in the street. What else are they gonna do next, kill and decapitate ?
When you see a chunky furry deodorant-sprayed baboon walking in the street next time , show them who owns this place !

        • Dr SUN

I admit to screwing the women , but that’s it.

        • Get the Chinks!

White and Black swarming to live in China compared to the boatloads of dirty Chinks that pollute Europe, Australia, Canada, and America? There is a lot more unwanted Chinese garbage in our countries than the few that come to the China wasteland. I call on all those reading for every unjust act taken on someone in China that you take your revenge on a Chink in your home country!

Well, number one that’s illegal (as you suggest violence). And promotes condoning the action we are condemning here.

Number two, it’s better they get educated about foreign ways and relay it back home to help each side reach an understanding (if possible).

Number three, you are a complete moron.

        • kaka

          hmm.. some interesting points…

Foreign men stealing Chinese women – Check!
Foreign men screwing Chinese women – Check!
All foreigners are English teachers – Check!
All foreign men are rapists – Check!

the rationality of your argument is most persuasive…

I’m not sure about the “deodorant” thing… is that bad? Smelling nice, i mean.. or is the rancid aroma of stale breath and last nights sweat that pervades one’s morning subway commute an actual preference?

You descended in to nonsense though, when you suggested that Chinese people like your self “own this place” – or were you merely being ironic?

Surely you know that, to the people who actually own China – the senior party officials and their families – you’re worth no more than a cup of sewage oil…

Out of interest, what do you propose your fellow countrymen do to those foreigners walking in the street? Perhaps try to get them executed by drumming up a false drug trafficking charge? Maybe take them to a secluded hotel and pour cyanide down their throat, or offer them a glass of delicious Famous Brand Chinese baby milk? The options are endless…

          • Dripping Third Leg

Well, I tried not to generalize about foreigners but I couldn’t help doing it when I saw Mr Risible railed “spitting is a national sport in mainland china.”

          Jin? Is that you?

As I throw my feces at you, drink my own piss, and beat my chest, I can only think, “chill a bit there 3rd leg.”

We don’t steal your women. They cum to us.

You should try deodorant…you might get more women and not be so angry at the “baboons” for “stealing” your women.

I have an idea…have China kick out all the foreigners and have all the other countries kick out all the Chinese to go back to China and we’ll see how that works out for ya. You think you have a bad unemployment problem now? LOL

“The white/black baboons swarm to China…”

now do you mean that all the foreigners are the same, or is it just some foreigners that do the screwing, stealing, and various other bad activities?

and if by chance, there are different kinds of foreigners, how can a chinese differentiate between the good and bad?

this is a genuine question, i am interested in your honest opinion. i have lived in sichuan the last four years, and i find the chinese perspective of foreigners here pretty interesting.

          • Dripping Third Leg

Most Chinese don’t speak English and even for those who are able to utter some exotic words wouldn’t bother to read posts in places like ChinaSmack where I believe is not only a spot for revealing the real China but also the real foreigners, at least the worldly aspect of both.
Meanwhile, most foreigners who live in China don’t speak Chinese, and even for those who speak are more likely to hang out with young girls/kids(teaching English? ). So pretty much 80% of impressions about foreigners are derived from movies, specifically American movies.
In another word, Chinese perspectives of foreigners are built on American movies, mostly, while that of foreigners are more connected with sex/scrawny/scrappy/squalid/stupid. There is no way for both sides to relate to each other in this case. and thanks to ChinaSmack, we are socializing with the real Chinese/foreingers here, in a real way .

          • b. prichard

Yeah, really stupid Chinese people interacting with really stupid foreigners interacting with slightly smarter trolls. ChinaSmack provides a lovely service in translating articles, but let’s not pretend that the comments are elevating any conversation. I generally only check them to see just what depths remain to be plumbed.

          • Efe the foreigner

            @dripping third leg

well, you make an interesting case. i live in sichuan and speak a pretty good local dialect, living in the countryside will do that. and while i do agree about the american movie thing, i think also the education system here is to fault as well. students here are just memorizing shit tons of info without any idea of how to utilize that info in the real world. or what the world outside might be like, chinese are similar to americans in their extremely insular world perspective. its all just test scores and gaokao…… poor kids.

i have been disgusted on many counts of foreigner behavior here in sichuan, especially chengdu. but they wouldnt be here if some chinese werent making money of them.

also, cant really fault the foreigners for the girls making it so easy. been here 4 years, and had only one gf. had many a chance to date around, but my first gf helped me to realize girls here have a very low emotional maturity (their age minus 10 years is my formula, my ex was 24 but had the emotional maturity of a 14 year old).

and there is a huge 24 hour prostitution culture in every city i have ever been, but its only for chinese men. maybe if the pimps spoke english and targeted those foreign guys, some of the more innocent ladies would be spared the wrath of yang guizi.

        • Anon E Moose

I admit to introducing the local women to the joys of S&M sex. But as I used “Safe Words” and the proper S&M protocols, you should have no complaints.

I’m not sure about that… but maybe its because I’m a college student where we got loads of liberals. Who are always complaining about zeh war in Iraq, and the war in Afghanistan, and Chinese human rights violations, etc. (And legalizing weed, but thats a different matter)

Considering that for the longest time, America’s foreign policy was the increase the number of troops and escalate the two wars. And to turn a blind eye to Chinese human rights violations; minus a few small complaints.
I’d say, American foreign policy doesn’t often match up to what college students think.

A friend of mine and I were attacked (like, light slaps on the body and spit on) by a middle aged, probably mentally unbalanced woman one day at random. We were at this shopping mall area thing, walking back from having lunch and next thing we knew, this old lady was screaming at us and hitting us. I had no idea what she said, but I assume it wasn’t rational or nice. Anyway there were plenty of rubberneckers but no one cried about injustice. They just assured us that the woman was most certainly not from Jiaxing and that her behavior by no means reflects the character of Jiaxing people.

    • GodsHammer

Hahaha, yeah, if you dealt with her/him/it (regardless of that person region of origin) you would be threatening ALL Chinese people. If you are harshly dealt with, or unfairly treated…then it’s not this tribe,we’re the good Ningbo people, it’s all those Henan people that suck. Nationalism plus shoddy education multiplied by shoddy social concept= THIS!!!

      • http://500px.com/whiskersthecat whiskersthecat

To be fair, Henan people do largely suck.m.

      • elizabeth

It’s true Ningbo people are nice and more culture. I once had a young man stopping traffic on a busy road for me to cross because I looked obviously lost. Serious.

excellent, an article where more trolls will appear.

      You sound fat.

    • Risible

@simon, are you avoiding me? You seem to have left a last-minute rant on the Japanese Island (which china wants) page, and then scuttled over here. Well, i left a reply for you;-) Get some tissues before reading it. Call mummy and tell her you are coming home for while.

      • simon

Here we go with the insults that have nothing to do with this article or with my posting. This is what separates trolls from normal forum posters. Had you looked closely at the time stamp, i posted this at 8:13pm well before your reply in the other thread. Unlike you i don’t spend all day refreshing Chinasmack ;)

Are we going to drag a needless discussion into this article as well?

  • UpRising

Is this any different from chinese people spitting/insulting/arguing with other chinese people about car accidents?

    • Zappa Frank

Is it different? it is. should it? maybe no. Just in China? not at all.. i guess is the same in most countries in the world.

    • matt

There is no double standard. This story is popular because it’s the first time, in 5000 years of Chinese history, that a traffic accident in has escalated into impolite words and/or actions.

      • Dr SUN

        LOL !!

“Why must us Foreigners be like this? Why is it like this? We demand that Chinese must make an apology, make an apology on the internet, they must. Why do they drive us in circles to run up the cab fare, lie in job descriptions, assume we are all very wealthy, [everyone reading this can insert something else] on us Foreign people? Why? Apologize. They must apologize to Foreign people.”

    • kaka

      So arrogant!

Just because this is an irrelevant incident that happens everyday between Chinese people does not mean that Chinese people should not be able to use it as a chance to air their inherent xenophobic notions, or as a way of releasing their pent-up anger about other issues they are unable to discuss or complain about openly due to the fact that that reside in a one-party dictatorial pseudo-communist police state….

Foreign people in China should consider the potentially “serious consequences” of getting in to an every day road-incident, that this every day road-incident has “seriously interfered with China’s internal affairs, undermined China’s core interests, and hurt the feelings of the Chinese people, as well as damaging diplomatic and trading relations between China and Foreign nations.”

Foreign people in China should take the Chinese people’s wholly irrational response to the incident seriously, stop indulging and supporting foreigners who do similar irrelevant things, apologise for selling opium to the Chinese drug lords who in-turn distributed it to the Chinese population for a profit because we refused to accept any method of payment except silver for our main export items, immediately take effective measures to undo the adverse effect, and take concrete action to safeguard the overall development of China-Foreigner relations – which consists of doing everything we say until some time towards the end of this century when as a result of our inability to continue the flow of money from the east coast to outlying provinces we will have to resort to overt nationalism and ultimately armed force to maintain national “unity” resulting in the formation of separate power blocks within China which challenge the central power of Beijing, eventually causing the country to fracture- as is China’s historical geo-politcal fate.”, so that we may piss all over them again next time we feel like displaying a bit of self-righteous indignation…

“We demand that he must make an apology, make an apology on the internet… Why did he spit on us Chinese people? ”
    – Why do some people make everything bigger than it really is? It was just simply conflict between a man and woman. So if a Chinese spits on a foreigner, should we also cry the same way? And truth be told, the internet is no place where you can find any sincere apology. The last time I checked, it should be done personally to the concerned or aggravated person.

Also on the foreigner, there is no valid reason he can offer for slapping a woman. Whatever the reason may be, you should always try pull yourself together specially when you are not in your own country.

    • http://500px.com/whiskersthecat whiskersthecat

Maybe she had a hornet on her and he was just trying to save her from being stung. Maybe she’s deathly allergic to their stings. This man, who might be accidentally known to lose control of saliva when speaking, may have saved her life.

Where’s your “no valid reason” now? HUH?!

This is a attitude that many managers here in the USA have towards employees, they are wishing for the middle ages to return. Scew him for slapping a woman, let him try to slap a man. Lock him up for a few days in a real jail with men.

    • Risible

” Lock him up for a few days in a real jail with men” – in China? Real men? According to chinese women, there’s no such thing as a real man from mainland china….

      • Dr SUN

if they locked men up for hitting woman in China there would be no Govt, no police, no judiciary, no business and HK would still be a fishing village.

          • linette

So many low quality foreigners in China that behave poorly. They are giving laiwai a bad reputation. Only poor quaility lowly educated china women would want to be with them.

          • FredF

I have visited many countries, and China is the only country where I have seen so many women with black eyes and busted lips.

What the foreigner did was wrong, of course.
But, almost every day in China I see Chinese men and women fighting in the streets. Chinese men and women often hitting and insulting each other.

        • Risible

@Dr. Sun, +1 bwhahahaha!!! to both comments!

          • Risible

@linette, i am beginning to doubt you are female. Too much emphasis on mainland chinese girls & foreign men. Too much. And the ‘quality’ people you keep raising-that class mentality is very mainland, very mainland male, and very bitter.

Loosen up a little. People are people. If they want to be together for comfort, reading, walking, serious banging, then let it be. Does it have to involve ‘class’ and tribal allegiances? I mean, money and degrees.-great to have them. But how exactly does one make love to a degree? Or a bank account? OR an audi….

The talk of ‘poor quality women’ is cold. Do you mean ‘poor’? What’s wrong with poor people? I thought you stood up for mainland women? Or is it only the rich ones? Many mainland chinese men use that term. Just thought i should let you know..

            G’night everyone. See you tomorrow.

Simon, you and I WILL be speaking tomorrow. If you haven’t changed your name by then. Or, got me blocked from this site;-) I’ve been blocked twice this week, can you believe it? hahaha…

          • linette

Risible…stop acting like a loser. I do believe you have inferiority complex. You always have to remind China chinese men you are better because you are a foreigners. What a loser you are. You poor thing. lol.

    • grovesman

      @linette

FYI: I’m married to a well educated (Masters in Economic Law from Xi Nan Cai Da) Chinese woman.

While there are some “loser” foreigners in China who would otherwise be known as nerds/geeks in their homeland with little chance of getting a beautiful woman…wait…where was I going with this…? nyuk-nyuk-nyuk

It happens in every country where some women and men find people from other cultrues more attractive than men and women from their own culture. Why is that so appalling to you?

Using the phrase “poor quality” is quite a subjective word. So maybe you can explain what you mean by poor quality.

      Peace

      • linette

grovesman FYI go read some of risible’s post. He will give you an idea of what’s a bad behavior poor quality foreigner. He was talking about how foreigners are having fun with some married China women. So I told him those women most likely in his level.

        • Risible

@Linette. What else are married chinese ladies for? My goodness woman. Learn your place!

          • A GUY

Linette is right he is being a scum bag and her comments if directed only at him would be fine, but she insinuates that Chinese women who date/marry foreigners are all “low quality” and this smacks of racism to me. I have never dated a Chinese woman (not my type most of the time), but I have friends who are married to them and they seem to be representative of the Chinese population some rich some poor some cultured some not so much. Some women from every race like guys from another race. It’s cool sometimes those girls are low class sometimes they are high class. Your comment is like me saying that only trashy white girls date black dudes. Not cool.

He is a dick but don’t shit on the love lives of a large group of people like that.

          • linette

Linette is right he is being a scum bag and her comments if directed only at him would be fine, but she insinuates that Chinese women who date/marry foreigners are all “low quality” ………………..

If I offended anyone I apologize. I am just replying to what risible was saying. What kind of China women would constantly go fxck other men behind their husbands? What kind of foreigners would go to China to seek fxck from married china women or one night stand in the bars? The trashy ones. They are low quality people. They truly belong with each other.

I am not talking about good foreigners who found love and married to one chinese woman.

I have nothing against nonAsians. My friends and co-workers are all different colors. I was born in Hk and grew up there. HK is quite multi racial too with different cultures and foods. Indians, philippines, Thai, Australians, Uk, mainlanders..etc. A lot of working visa and many Hk citizens are non Asians.

Now I am living in a multiracial city in uSA. My whole life is around people of different colors. I do have some knowledge about people from other cultures and their foods. I am not at all against interracial marriages. I have friends with really cute kids of different colors.

          • A GUY

Sry I will read it again maybe I skimmed it and missed what you were talking about. Your post here clarifies this matter. Thanks.

Your right he is a scum bag no questions there, and I find his bashing of Chinese men offensive as well. Lots of Chinese guys got swag, in fact my lil sis is dating one right now, she says (though I tell her I don’t want to hear that shit! please stop sharing!) that he is all man and more than satisfactory. (shutters)

      • tai wai

Using the phrase “poor quality” is quite a subjective word. So maybe you can explain what you mean by poor quality.

        Just more Hong Kong snobbery.

I just did some quick math.

foreign population in china 600,000 1
chinese population in china 1,340,000,000 2233.333333

        males
        foreign m 336,000 1
        chinese m 687420000 2045.892857

        foreign m 336,000 1
        chinese f 652580000 1942.202381

For every foreign guy there are almost 2000 Chinese women. Oh, but we’re taking them all, somehow.

And we aren’t high quality, like rich Chinese farts driving Audis!

But we’re rare, and we’re imported.

        • tai wai

Oh, and also, this basically means if only 1 Chinese you meet out of over 2000 is an asshole who hates foreigners, there are still more of them than there ARE foreigners.

          • linette

tai wai…I am not saying all foreigners are low quality. I apologize if I offended you okay.

Foreigners don’t want to be labeled low quality should not talk like people like risible. That’s my opinion.

          • tai wai

tai wai…I am not saying all foreigners are low quality. I apologize if I offended you okay.

Foreigners don’t want to be labeled low quality should not talk like people like risible. That’s my opinion.

Fair enough. But you could have just said “Hey, look, that guy is an asshole,” instead of “look at this example of another asshole foreigner.”

        • simon

Using your flawed “statistical” logic, any Chinese who immigrates to another country is automatically rare and of high quality. Nice try Tai wai, there’s often this thing with statistics where individuals use it to make something out of nothing, in this case you have just used a statistic and applied it to logic which is full of shit.

          • tai wai

Chinese who immigrates to another country is automatically rare and of high quality.

Asian girls are often considered “exotic” in the west. And there’s lots more of them there then there are foreigners in china.

          • http://amazon.com/author/rc richardnorth

Chinese female diaspora abroad divide into devoted wives, bookwormy students, and pharmaceutical researchers. They are rarely “available” and can pick-and-choose their Caucasian, Afro-Caribbean or Asian suitors. The statistics are “fairly” interesting, as the mixing of the races is proving to be painfully slow, and as such racism can spring out of nowhere, anywhere. Singapore is particularly paranoid about this.

    • Nanny Hiccups

If you really listen to what the people are saying, it is a cry. It is DISPLACED ANGER towards their government being taken out on foreigners, who are not subject to the lack of freedom in their own country. “Why do you bully us?”

They cannot talk to their own government, so they displace their anger to others.

  • http://www.bestvpninchina.com Rod

Crowd mentality is unbelievable. Spit on one Chinese person, and you spit on the whole country. Retards.

I think most foreigners feel safe and liked here now, but it seems to be turning for the worse. Maybe I read too much chinaSMACK. For me, it seems like in any confrontation, on any subject, it will all boil down The West vs. China, and in China, there’s no winning that argument.

    • http://500px.com/whiskersthecat whiskersthecat

I wonder if they consider all things to be like that. Like if I buy a drink for one Chinese guy, I’ve bought the entire country a drink? Or if I slap one woman, I slap all of them? What is a Chinese woman gives me a blowjob? Does that mean that all of Chinese just blew me? This collective-victimization is a double-edged sword they’re playing with.

Although I don’t agree with what he did at all. Nobody should hit a woman!
But again its one rule for the chinese and another rule for everyone else.
Chinese man beats a woman openly in the street, “well she deserves it”…
Foreign man hits a woman in the street, “How dare he hit one of OUR women”…
After living in China for 10 years and seeing 10-13 husbands beating their wives openly in public (one holding her child in her arms) and nobody flinching or raising any concern. (most responded by watch and smoking their cigarettes)
    http://www.chinasmack.com/2009/videos/pretty-tv-reporter-attacked-shandong-village-official.html
    http://www.chinasmack.com/2009/videos/pretty-tv-reporter-attacked-shandong-village-official.html
Maybe Chinese citizens should be more worried about their own views and attitudes on domestic violence and wake up to the fact while this one foreigner hit a Chinese women is wrong, Chinese men hitting women is a far bigger problem than this one isolated case.

@MrT. And yourself? A typical dumb ass local in china. What is this? You competing in ‘dumbness’? If you had used your skull before commenting, you would have realised that your intelligence peaks where Whiskercat’s begins. Do you WANT to get spanked here online? Look what happened to poor old American Joe, Jon, Hongjao etc. all ran away from this forum, got caught ramming each other in someone’s back garden, got their mugshots posted all over the internet, THEN, they found a safe haven on that japanese island that china reckons belongs to china, they horribly drowned after being reported slipping on snot which their previous comrades left all over the place.

Now. Listen. I like you. I really do. So why do you not be a good little chinese boy, run along and tell your girlfriend that the The Foreigners are here. You can do her homework while she gets her sorely needed, um, inspection?

Dumb or smart. Rich or poor. Foreigners just need to sit down somewhere and your women, yes YOURS too, are wondering what we got going on down there. You have to spend, buy their iPads etc, buy an apartment which you have to pay off for the rest of your miserable life, buy a car and etc. and etc.
Foreigners just need to show up and they take your woman, literally and figuratively, in a matter of seconds. Without spending a penny. So who’s dumb?

Ok stop crying. Go home now. And, next time, use your skull before you even contemplate commenting here. Run along now…

(Nanny, ok i said i would behave but, it is difficult at times:-)

” I hope the country can improve its laws involving foreigners, and restrict [screen] the laowai in China”

I’m curious about this translation. I can’t read hanzi, so tell me if I’m wrong. Did this guy just use the word “foreigner” for decent, normal foreigners and “laowai” to indicate the bad foreigners?

    • Kevin

No. The first part doesn’t use any noun to directly refer to foreigners; it says 涉外 (shewai), which is an adjective meaning “relating to foreigners”.

    • Risible

@whiskercat, GOOD! Let them kick all the foreigners out. Let’s see who trains them to deal with the world. Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, and etc. Much better to live and work than mainland china. Leave them to it man. Let them eat themselves. You are doing them a favour by existing in that place.

When the foreigners leave en masse, watch how mainland deflates. I wish they DO kick everyone out. It will simply create more opportunities for other asia countries.

Let’s have a ‘spit-and-slap-a-local’ week. Let them know how it feels. Having been spat on in china just for being a foreigner, i find it difficult to feel sorry for the woman in this story. Also, it takes a lot, i mean a lot for a westerner to pull something like that. She must have deserved it! That’s what you mainlanders say, don’t you? He’s a foreigner, he must have deserved it. For every foreigner you abuse, verbally or otherwise, that foreigner informs his friends in the west who then, begin a hunt for a chinese person. Not good. But that’s how the world spins unfortunately. So mainlanders, go find the first foreigner you see and show some respect. It’s good for your cousins here in the west.

      • wacky

and that is exactly why american should go find the first foreigner they see and show some respect, it is good for your people all over the world, in fact china does not have immigration problem the US has been dealing with it for a long time, china does not build wall along the border the US does.
the fact is china is yet to have an immigrant problem. and yes the chinese react to the situation which happen to involve a foreigner, so far there is no chinese supremacy group attacking foreigner

        • Risible

@wacky. “china does not build wall along the border the US does.” Someone pinch me! Screw it, punch me! Wake me UP! China does not build walls? Is THIS what I am reading? What the F— is the great wall of china?!!!! A garden fence? You twats built that to prevent the Mongols and East Turkmenistan ‘immigrants’ from having their way with you.

          Wacky, these are for you:

Especially for you and the mobb.

          • Risible

@wacky, i forgot to add, despite your best efforts, the mongols and the east turkmen immigrants climbed it and had their way with you anyway.

Why doesn’t China have an immigrant problem? Why does America have an immigrant problem? Think about those questions for a minute. I am sure you will figure it out.

Because it appears you are comparing, saying that China is better (not having as many problems as America), why are there almost 4,000,000 ethnic Chinese living in America (America ONLY, not the rest of the world)? Why are there only ~600,000 foreigners total (~400,000 are from Taiwan, Hong Kong, or Macau because they are counted as foreigners) living in China? (http://shanghaiist.com/2011/04/30/total_number_of_foreigners_in_mainl.php)

Honestly, I think China is great, but its not the kind of place that most people dream about settling down in. China isn’t the most “foreginer friendly” nation, yet. It is making improvements, granted, but is quite a long ways off from being some sort of economic/social/religious/clean haven (not saying that America is any of that, either) that people want to flock to.

          • yangguizi

Wacky, if you don’t want Uyghur “immigrants” in China, there’s a simple solution you could press your government to implement.

Get the f**k out of their homeland, Xinjiang.

          • wacky

            bret hunan
china is not yet achieve the developed country status, most of the country with immigrant problem are developed countries.
the immigrant problem i mean here is the similar problem you are facing in the west “immigrant are taking our job” or “immigrant committing crime” kinds of thing, and china does not have that, of course there are problems with foreigner like the one on this article.

the other point is regarding your number of foreigner, most of the figures i’ve read before showed that largest number of foreigner in china are korean, yet i have never seen any of this thing on the article involving the korean (or even japanese). it is always white people and black people why is that???

and me personally dont see why china has to accept immigrant let along naturalize them

ugyur as chinese citizen can move and live wherever they want in china, in fact i met uygur people in every city that i have traveled to, but let me make myself clear i think uygur should be subjected to the same regulation as the han chinese means that if the han cant sell on the street why should the uygur be able to do so??? if a han store owner cant arrange even one table in front of their own store why are the hui muslim be allowed to do that???

Oh also, @maja, you are almost correct. It was SUPPOSED to serve defensive military purposes but as with all things, china failed miserably. The Mongols and Turkmen climbed over it anyway, then went to work…

Wacky, you there? Hey man, come on stop sobbing. It’s not your fault you ended up this way! There are many people who can be fixed! Really! But then again….

yeah ! the truth is chinese people ARE racists…

I don’t mean to give right to the guy for slapping or spitting, as anyway we can’t be sure of what happened… did she do something for it or not ? did he really do it or not either… we just don’t know… it’s 50/50 here…

I just think it’s such display of racism and xenophobia that only China is capable of.

In a way, well done showing us one more time how narrow minded your people are :)

        • grovesman

China is experiencing an illigal immigration problem now…from Africans, primarily.

However, China isn’t facing the same extensive illegal immigration problem as the USA because, really, who the fuck wants to “sneak” into China? There is no better life in China. There is no “China Dream” so your comment is ridiculous.

Oh…and China never built a wall to keep people out? How about the Great Wall?

What’s wrong with the Uyghur? Sounds quite racist. But there is no racism in China, right?

It’s nothing but sunshine, lolipops and rainbows in the middle kingdom.

          • jin

stop talking about the fucking great wall, you dumbasses. the great wall is from HUNDREDS years ago. its not build to keep out people, its build to stop the mongol invasion.

        • sonny

@wacky’s “WHERE THE FUCK THE WALL IS??????” the wall risible is talking about is the great wall of china aka 万里长城… you may have heard of it.

thus your comment “china does not build wall along the border” is proven categorically false.

          • jin

get your facts straight. the 万里长城 was build to stop the mongol invasion -.- its not for this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexico_%E2%80%93_United_States_barrier

          • sonny

@jin: sir, i believe my facts are quite straight.

fact 1: the great wall of china is… a wall.
fact 2: the great wall of china was… built along the border.

so again, the comment “china does not build wall along the border” is clearly false.

now, i’m not an engineer, but as to the function of walls… i believe the general idea is to keep people you don’t want in… well, out. i mean come on, i’m a pretty open-minded guy, but i really don’t see how you could debate any of this. i’ll just stop now.

          • jin

I think the point was that there are no foreign military bases in America, but Americans have foreign military bases in other countries. Just like there are millions of Chinese people in America and The West, but few Westerners in China.

I live in China, see women get slapped all the time, never a crowd forms, as soon as it’s a foreigner, BAM, flocks of little guys every where. I’m not saying beating women is good either, in my country, foreigners AND americans get the same treatment when they hit a woman. I find this hypocrisy absurd. Chinese man hits woman, nothing, foreigner hits woman, now we’re women savers. so terrible you can only laugh and shake your head.

    • wafflestomp

      A fucking men to that.

If it was a Chinese man nothing would of happened. If a Chinese woman slapped the foreigner the crowed would yell to do it again. Hell if they guy left his car he’d of been beaten to death, no question.

    • Alexander

Yes, its a double standard….. perhaps when we go to Europe or America and see a Chinese person we should all point and tell our friends, “look, Zhong Guo ren, look look!!!”

      • Risible

@Alexander, thanks man! Hahahah, i’m heading out RIGHT now! Oh, can i take photos of them also? Pleeeease? ;-) I’ll mail them to you all!

      • Risible

@Alex, i learnt the words for ‘black pig’ and ‘white pig’ while living in china. The locals used to say that everyday on the streets, in the subway, in business zones. How does one say ‘look at that (ugly)chinese pig’? I will record them on video and post it online for you guys to have SOME fun. I’m back in London, and would like to experiment on this.

        • The Enlightened One

Kan kan, shi yi ge chou de zhong guo zhu.

That’s the pin yin I think, can’t type Han zi on this computer. But I advise against it. Not because it wouldn’t be funny or sweet revenge but because even though I have taken it a lot myself. I am simply better than that and you should be too.

          • Risible

@Enlightened One. True. And thank you. We joke a lot. A lot of truth in the humour but, we would never say shit like that to anyone. Even in the heat of the moment. I like writing it here you know why? It MAY just serve as a warning to the locals in china right now, that maybe they shouldn’t get up tomorrow, and call anyone a white or black pig just because it’s their country and they can get away with it. If they have a relative in the west, they may be a little more cautious next time they feel so brave enough to mutter some racist shit under their breaths, in their own language, with the confidence that they are in CHINA! They need to know that there are more chinese in western countries and they could end up in a far worse situation than foreigners in china…and i mean far worse.

And to the chinese: Do you SEE, how a westerner (enlightened one) tells another foreigner (me) how wrong it is to say shit like you say DAILY to foreigners? Even as a payback for years of abuse in mainland china? But chinese locals would never assist a foreigner or, tell another local how wrong it is to racially abuse a foreigner. Now go examine your consciences the lot of you.

            Nice one E.O.

          • ry

Reading you guys’ comments, it doesn’t sound like you two are “enlightened” … and it sounds like you two are the ones on the high horse that you guys are accusing the Chinese of doing and with adding nearly racist insults into the comments, it doesn’t “enlighten” anyone.

You two are actually being racist because you’re lowering the mass of people for what a small crowd is doing.

If you guys want to be civilized, just state your opinion without insulting or racist/ignorant remarks and let that be it. No need to say, “See, look at how the White man speak to each other” crap.

“Years of abuse in China” Then go back to wherever you came from then. At least, you have a choice, not like the Blacks… talk about abuse! ;) Thanks for the many years of slavery that help build the GREAT country, that is, America.

Seeing from you (Risible) and EO’s attitude here, I can see why the Chinese folk treated you two poorly. You two brought it upon yourselves. I pity you guys, too… you guys do confirm their stereotype that the White folks look down on them, because you do. I do, too, but I’m Asian, so it’s a-ok! :)

You won’t get that delicious revenge that you two so seek. It won’t accomplish anything. You’ll just take it out on a person who probably didn’t deserve it. Stay in Whiteland and forget the Chinaland. Don’t know why you two piss and moan like kids when you people can just avoid it all.

“Tee-hee, I learned to say “piss” and “pee” in Chinese.” Good for you guys….

A portion just plainly racist and it’s a everyday thing for them. But no I’m a in China now we are perfect we are not racist at all!

I don’t condone this behavior. I think it’s sick & stupid. But face it, Henan is consider to be super hickville by other Chinese. People literally hate people from Henan.

You faggot Chinaman expats are hypocritical to the max. The other day on 4chan/int some faggot was talking about how Japanese people love to talk /make fun of people behind their backs. indeed in europe if a european man hit a woman or an extra-UE man (north africans for instance) hit a european woman is not the same either. May be the same according to law, but not the same according to people’s feeling.

        • Boss Rob

Actually it would be pretty much the same in Europe. But in any case, in the EU you won’t find a hysterical violent mob surrounding this ‘foreigner’ because he is a foreigner.

    • wacky

true there are some bias towards the foreigner, but again when a foreigner help people the media too would report it out of proportion, take an example when a foreigner gave food ( if i recall it correctly) to the old lady in front of the convenient store, even this is made to a news, i believe chinese help their fellow chinese more often but is never made to a news.

      • Chom

I don’t think there is “some bias towards the foreigner” in this case, there is a lot. If he were Chinese, none of this would have happened. Just because he is a foreigner, they want to smash his car etc. Actually, because of all the other issues they are NOT allowed to complain about, they take the chance to release their anger when they know it is safe and acceptable to do.

Normally the police/government are no good, but I must say THANK GOD, the police have some brains in this situation and at least protect that guy. Did they really want to kill him? Crazy…

        • wacky

i agree if he is chinese none of this would have happened, but if the foreigner do good sometimes they do get praise from the people something that the chinese do not get. i do think that lately there are more case involving the foreigner ( or at least more report). even from the comments here on chinasmack i know that the chinese do have negative sentiment towards the foreigner, if i recall correctly some of the comments here often said thing like
foreigner is no1 then the official and rich people then the ethnic minorities then then the majority of han chinese.
i red the article here about an old lady (a chinese american) sued the airport and won (??) because she fell when she was trying to get in to the bus (i dont really remember it) but i remember one of the comment really said like this once you change your nationality they treat you differently

          • Kukuku

But then again blame needs to fall where blame is due. As a foreigner from Canada who is used to living with people from everywhere around the world, it is difficult for me to accept the special treatment I get from almost everyone every day – both the negative and positive sides of this special treatment. I’d just like to be treated as a normal guy doing his job. I believe most foreigners also feel this way although I am speaking for myself here.

If Chinese people don’t want foreigners to get special treatment in China then they have to send a clear message that it is now unacceptable. They ought to start by applying this to themselves and try to treat foreigners they meet as they would regular Chinese people. When the entire population stops treating us as special important guests then the rest will follow, probably.

          • Capt. WED

people everywhere have these kinds of sentiments.

China is still developing while you guys had over an hundred years to practice multiculturalism. China didn’t even open up until the 80s.

I don’t condone this though I believe there should improve. It’s going to be hard in a place of 1.3 billion people.

          • Kukuku

Here comes capn’ deflection. Stop it already. No sane man would think this stuff cannot happen anywhere else. It just happens exponentially more in China.

The irony in this case being this very situation of preferential treatment is produced by the Chinese themselves, not the foreigners.

          • tai wai

it is difficult for me to accept the special treatment I get from almost everyone every day – both the negative and positive sides of this special treatment. I’d just like to be treated as a normal guy doing his job.

            @ kukuku
the problem is that many comments here too are speaking about how bad the chinese treat the foreigner, and many comments here are from those living or had lived in china before.
if foreigner really wants to be treated the same as fellow chinese then why are the foreigner protesting about it??

  • Cleo

Too bad Yang Rui clearly enjoys his current job and interviewees. He could be the Phil Donahue on this subject. Imagine what life was like with foreigners during the Unequal Treaties before we needed refuge in their foreign concessions.

You know, China needs to put Germany on Blast because there will be bombings in China’s back door regions like Urumqi, Tibet and alas, Sichuan attributed to ethnic minority “separatists” as the need to defend against an open undeclared encroachment by Japan continues. Germany has always enjoyed propping up and prolonging the Japanese rampage against the much-envied Chinese who have not only enriched Germany’s superior European neighbors and rivals but China is also responsible for what Germany claims to be their ethnic distinctiveness – spaetzel is knife noodles, the metal graters for it as well as the Cuisinart are Chinese in origin, the flowers embroidered upon boiled wool on overpriced Geiger jacket are Chinese, the shapes of their dinnerware, cooking equipment, the traditional soccer shirt that make the Nazi brothers who own Adidas and Puma (or owned on behalf of their Habsburg masters?) – all Chinese. Switzerland even got a design award for their renovated first class lounge that COPIES a traditional Southern Chinese home.

Put them on blast and that includes John Rabe who handed to the Japanese the excuse to breach the protected foreign zone by telling them (in front of an American witness) that Chinese police had removed their uniforms and requested as ordinary civilians – haven.

Such a forked tongue. No wonder the Germans and Japanese are soulmates. This is not a light reason, there is a very strong safety concern if the Germans aren’t called out on their shit. The Germans are shameless and remorseless and have no problem with the revelation that they have been funding Palestinian terrorism against civilian Israeli targets. Those bus and market explosions will happen in China as well. Is that going to weaken China’s resolve in defending against the danger of a repeat of past Japanese atrocities? Not at all. But warn the ordinary people please and make the Germans balance on some rocky terrain of their own. They don’t deserve to pretend. They have enjoyed all the torture and retardation of Chinese and Chinese progress. If not for Portuguese Jesuits, Macau would have been taken by the Dutch Germans. Put the entire bloodline on blast. The Hutterites, the Amish, all the hypocrites who saw Orthodox Jewish righteousness and wanted to have be Lord of the Rings. The Swiss, the Austrians, the Dutch, the bad part of Belgium who let the other part get home invaded and raped in World War 1 for being pro-French. All the operatives with British, Canadian, Australian and American accents and passports. All the South American multigenerational operatives – not just Gisele Bundchen but the evil-minded hybrids as well.

You know what the Kennedy curse is? That their patriarch Joseph Kennedy was PRO Nazi.

That’s pro mass murder, pro mass rape, pro torture and pro land grabbing out of greed.

They give the Irish a bad name.

I know Chinese love this story. lol White devils are at it again.

For real this guy should not have done that. Anywhere at all…..China, America, Congo does not matter. If I had it my way I would punch anyone who looked at cock-eyed, but you can’t go around doing that.

And wow, look at all people who showed up to watch. haha
The way you make the story out to be the headline should be
“America overlord gets in spat with Chinese Villager, 10’s of thousands come to watch.

I’m sure this same situation happened 1000 times today. This on just involved a white guy. Why treat lowai any different. Chinese do hate everybody. They even hate themself…..Ahhh i’m done talking.

    • Risible

@BigJ, yeah, that ‘white devil’ shit. But they loooove to buy all that ‘pure white’ Nivea crap right?

  • Alexander

Why do people have to bring race, ethnicity, and nationality into everything? By doing that, that shows ignorance in itself. It doesn’t matter where the person is from, and we all know that there are Chinese men who do the same exact thing, so it isn’t race or nationality, its simply stupid men, every country has them!!! I myself had to break-up one of these things before because a man on a scooter was hitting a woman on a scooter who had bumped him, and neither of the two involved were foreigners…. Come on people, who posts news targeting people of other nationalities, can you imagine? “Chinese man in New York City spits on local New Yorker in traffic dispute”……. get over it people, the world is a very diverse place, there is good and evil all over it, just accept it and stop labeling people…..

    • ItipMyHat2U

I could not agree with every word you said more precisely Sir.

  • jeffli

not one of the people in the video can speak Chinese properly! They are not even NONGMIN, they are city plebs no culture, no language nothing.

look at these low level people….just what the govt. ordered.
I saw a woman get beat up by her husband….not one of these chickens lifted a hand.

shit rubbish people- they are the ones who would put melamine in your baby’s milk!
    disgusting barstard of slaves (Yatingde!)\
I know people (and some are Chinese) so much better than these shit people.

  • Jahar

I’d like to see a little more evidence that he actually did something, other than some shirtless dude saying so. I think it’s funny that so many people automatically assume the guy is telling the truth. We all know that 90% of the people here will lie through their teeth to make one of their own look like the good guy against an outsider.

    • BigJ

      Yeah man.

    • Chom

“We all know that 90% of the people here will lie through their teeth to make one of their own look like the good guy against an outsider.”

      • Sum Ting Wong

        I will correct it…

  • Kim Jong-un

Chinese should blame no one but themselves. The so-called open-up policy allows western thugs come in China and do that what thugs always do.

My dear DPRK must take a lesson from that and just shut westerners out of the door.

    • Risible

      @Kim Jong-un-ill-yaaow!

Noooo! Let me in! Let us westerners in!

WhoEVER you are kim-jonged or not, you need your head examined. Were your parents brother and sister by any chance? And you, the mutant offspring?

    • Mister X

Western Thugs can not get visas to leave Western Countries. Meaning Felons can not get passports in the U.S. Also in California there are so many Chinese criminals around here it is crazy. I saw a Chinese kid slap and jerk his GF arm in Garvey Blvd is Monterrey Park.

      • jin

now i would love some proofs to back this up.
i know for a fact that most criminals in USA are black/white/hispanic, and not asians, definitely not chinese.

    • Anon E Moose

But as your dear departed Daddy was the President of the Julie Roberts Film Appreciation society of the DPRK, that would make you a big hypocrite.

Or did you already burn his beloved film collection ?

  • Anita M Bailey

No one should be assaulted the way the reports claim. I say “claim” because the facts still have to be sorted out. The emotional charged reaction of the crowd does not make sense to me. You have one alleged attacker being mobbed and taunted by thousands of people! Come on. You mean those in the crowd had nothing better to do than to cause a riot over an incident most of them didn’t even see happen. They are going off of hearsay. Hearsay leads to irrational behavior and irrational behavior never leads to anything good. Here are some words of wisdom: “One should never run to the aid of another’s battle before knowing the truth of what transpired, for you may get caught up in snare and don’t even know why you are fighting or depefending a cause or person. And in end you get hurt or worse lose your life for nothing and meddling in someone else’s business”. This was an unfortunate event, but I can think of other issues and concerns, I could use my energies to be passionate and vocal about.
An apology should take place, but a public apology? No. I don’t think so. Not to mock this situation, but what’s next? Headline reads “Foreigner steps on Chinese foot, damages shoe and breaks toe, Crowd causes riot and demands a Public Apology”. That apology can work both ways.

    • Chom

“One should never run to the aid of another’s battle before knowing the truth of what transpired, for you may get caught up in snare and don’t even know why you are fighting or depefending a cause or person. The video looks like one of them African safari things. Chimps all around the car, peeking through the window and chewing on the car.Hitting the car with sticks. Loawai should start taking tranquilizer darts with them in case this happens again.

@Chom, is that the best you can do? My parents are Jamaican/African and i do not see how i can, or should take offense at BigJ’s comment. Grow up fool. Learn to laugh a little. At yourself. It doesn’t hurt. The thing with mainland chinese is, you laugh at others but never yourselves.

In the free worlds, friends call each other all kinds of things and we laugh. You know why? Because it doesn’t hurt.

        :-)

        • Chom

          I’m not Chinese. I’m African-American and I do take racist slurs seriously…

          • Risible

          • Dat Ankle

He wasnt saying Africans are monkey BigJ was talking about the safari ride thing with actual monkeys and animals jumping on cars and getting near them, at least thats what I think he means.

          • linette

Risible, I suggest you to get out of China. Really. I see how it’s hurting you mentally. It’s not good for you. Go to another Asia country. Go to Malaysia or indonesia. Go to India. Over there it’s more multi racial. It’s better for you. China right now has a lot of internal problem. The China gov’t is really messed up. They need to set up some kind of anti corruption system more like HK ICAC. Then start using more funds into public education for rural areas. They will need more certified teachers. Educate them about strict one child policy and sterilization. The rural people really shouldn’t have too many kids that they can’t afford. Preach adoption. China needs to shrink their population and narrow the gap between rich and poor city and rural. When rural gets better get rid of segregation. It’s going to take yearssss but it has to start somewhere, so why not right now? Go check hk, usa, taiwan gov’t model and see if they can apply them on theirs. Hire people from HK and taiwan to work inside China gov’t to help run it.

They need to fix that without being distracted by poor behavior of some foreigners like you. They should screen foreigners before they let them in. Let them do investment immigration with $$$$ amount of money required. Or high level skilled workers on work visa. Not foreigners like you.

    • BigJ

I’m talking the looks of chinese hahaha. I’m saying the people are acting like monkeys.

    • BigJ

I’m not talking the looks of chinese hahaha. And why think I was being racist to Black People?? Is it because I put “African” and “chimp” in the same paragraph?? Come on, fuck off.I’m saying the people are doing what monkeys would do on a safari. That is what it reminded me of. Stick put in the tail pipe. The one brave one peeks in window then runs off. Spit, piss and shit on car. I can see this being the cover of national geographic next month. :)

The police I think did a good job from what I see.

Nanny, if you have something to say about me at least have the courage to address me directly. You need to work on the mind reading thing, you presumed wrong.

      • Chom

I didn’t say you were being racist to black people. You compared those Chinese people to animals. That’s racist.

        • Brett Hunan

I believe that BigJ compared their actions to animals. And their actions were (along with the white guy) the behaviors of animals. Humans should have the reasoning ability to discern appropriate actions from inappropriate actions.

        • BigJ

  • Web of Lies

Hahaha, I laughed when I watched the video. The laowai just sat in his car thinking FML. Its a shame they didn’t rock his car when he was in there. Honestly, I don’t even care what happened, it’s another case of he said she said scenario. The first to get physical usually ends up get blamed and it just happened to be him that day.

  • M.N

I was with my Chinese girlfriend in a restaurant just opposite that night, when the incident happened on that street and i also live nearby but bad luck that i missed it all.I first saw this video on the internet and just by looking at the first few seconds of the video,i got the idea that it’s Zhengzhou and later realized that me and my girl were sitting opposite in a restaurant when that incident happened. My girlfriend told me that most of the Chinese people who live and work over there are workers and not much educated. These kind of people usually commit these kinds of weird acts(breaking doors and windows) when they are in groups but if a Chinese person is alone then he would not dare to take any action. If that guy slapped the Chinese woman then he deserves to be punished by the law but at the same time, the local people should not rationalize everything. Now that i think about missing that incident that night,i think i was lucky because if i had gone inside the crowd to see what’s happening then the angry crowd would have started beating me up.Already the reputation of foreigners in Zhengzhou is not good and these kinds of incidents will cause more anger and hatred in the low and middle class of Zhengzhou people towards foreigners.

    • Risible

@M.N.”Already the reputation of foreigners in Zhengzhou is not good and these kinds of incidents will cause more anger and hatred in the low and middle class of Zhengzhou people towards foreigners”

      After murder of Neil Hayward:

Already the reputation of mainland Chinese in Britain is not good and these kinds of incidents will cause more anger and hatred in the low and middle class of British people towards mainland chinese.

So, how do you propose we deal with the chinese we see here in the UK everyday? Are they responsible for the murder and subsequent cover-up of the chinese gov sponsored murder of Neil Hayward?

      • markus

Of course the UK wouldn’t do something like that.

        But in China, who knows…

Today I saw a shop advertising that it hates Japan and won’t sell anything Japanese because the front page of the news paper today was of some Japanese with holding the Japanese flag on the disputed island…

Imagine if every country acted this way.

China is mad at Japan so lets block imports and exports to Japan..
Lets say Europe and the USA said the same thing to China what the fuck would China do..? What would Europe of the US do? When china blocked the rare earths going to Japan it was felt worldwide not just Japan.

Everything I have to say about this story has already been said
        1) we don’t know what really happened but if that’s what happed he needs to be punished
        2) the crowd was pathetic rally against the foreigner because he is a foreigner, it had nothing to do with what he had done. 80% of the people in that crowd didn’t see what happened they just joined in and said beat up the lao wai, lets break his car etc etc…
        3) The Chinese mentality in this situation and the comments are what’s losing face for China. If they handled it better people would look up to China’s behaviour… but no..

However the 1st comment seems to be reasonable if only more people thought like him

          japan???
japan has nothing to do with this case.
i think the anti japanese sentiment has always been there, the media are just playing around the issue, not creating it, we knows that both china and korea have this kind of felling, and also today korea is planing to block the access to dokdo island after the issue of similar japanese landing there.

and you are talking like the blocking is happening already, the fact is it is not happening and i doubt that it will, of course in the past china has blocked rare earth export to japan but i doubt that the government would do more than that.
europe and america?? are you serious?? so far europe and america are the only entity that have imposed embargo on other country, the latest is on iranian oil. i dont understand what you are trying to say here, are you emphasizing that europe and america are the moral compas to follow???

          • tai wai

i think the anti japanese sentiment has always been there

            Not so sure about that.

In 1974, war crimes committed by the Japanese invading Manchuria in 1931, then China proper in 1937, had been so forgotten that when a Japanese delegation visited Fudan University in Shanghai where I was studying at the time, the campus was festooned with banners that proclaimed “Friendship between the Japanese and the Chinese People, from Generation to Generation.” The 1937-38 Nanjing massacre which left 150,000-300,000 Chinese civilians dead, and the Japanese occupation of China (1937-45), might never have happened. Nor were the mid-19th century Opium Wars with Britain prominent in the public memory.

After 1989, however, both the Japanese invasion and the Opium Wars were elevated to the status of national disaster to serve the new patriotic narrative.

Of course the UK wouldn’t do something like that.

They might, after my return from China, I chest checked some cocky skinny short ass chinese boy punk who thought he was a hard-ass, he had to hide behind his girlfriends skirt in the end.

You can see where this anger/hatred could lead, to a minority in the UK.

      • M.N

Risible, come on seriously if this kind of similar or different incident happened in Britain then will you and most of the other educated British people will try to break the car windows and doors of a Chinese person? Definitely the British police will immediately intervene and make sure to investigate the matter thoroughly and swiftly. Most educated people in China and including other countries will not commit stupid acts of breaking the car or any other sinful or weird act, they(people) would rather want the police to deal with these kinds of incidents.

        • Risible

@MN, I agree with both your comments, my reply was not intended to insult you in any way. And of course, we would never reciprocate like that. It’s simply out of the question. Your comment actually helped me to help the mainland chinese to understand- understand how things are, and how they could be.

We will never know until we can see more footage, cant take the mobs word for it tho as about 80% showed up after and just joined in wanting to help beat up the lao wai

  • peter p.

The reaction of the american may have been wrong (because the 1st chinese woman on purpose scratched his car)..all presumptions. But there one must have faith in the police to sort matters out.
The reaction of the crowd is worse (and potentially more dangerous) as the crowd (and the more hyped persons in it) feel free to damage or hurt the american uninhibited (as the police never can arrest the precise assailant..as you saw now with the damages to the car).
Even worse is it when the crowd show their malice not because of the actual incident as such but because of their misconception of foreigners in general (based on 19th century feelings on both sides).
    That is shameful and dangerous.
On the other hand… crowd lynching mob behaviour in euphemistically called lower social areas happens here in the west (France, UK, Holland, etc.) too.

Thank god it didn’t happen in Pakistan, then he’d be beheaded (..and in anticipation theretoo, he might have stepped on the gaspedal and raced through the crowd, making more victims alltogether.: ).

i believe that the foreigner has a better education compare to the crowd, yet he hit and spat the girl.
i dont know about 19 century feelings, i think the people;s felling towards the foreigner especially in the big city is changing now. i did not see this happen to often back then, this year its already the 4th or 5th times

  • Getrealson

I am very impressed with most of the chinese comments. was expecting more nationalistic vomit but to my surprise quite objective.

If Walmart Fat guy slapped a woman and spat on her, regardless of her septic morality, He needs a good belting. But I think now he has an obligation to give his side of the story (truthful version) not just for his sake but for every foreigner living in China.

I love that “Americans are so violent” comment.

Because we form flashmobs the second anyone who looks different from the stereotypical white male/female does something wrong in public.

  • Foreign Devil

From my personal observations of angry Chinese ladies.. The lady surely slapped him first. However that is no excuse for him to be physically violent with her. I’m sure they couldn’t communicate verbally though.

The guy should be deported. Clearly he has been in China too long and lost his cool. It’ happens to the best of us. Time to leave. You need a super “zen” disposition to live in China longterm.

    • Zappa Frank

yes, i think it’s more likely what happened.

    • The Enlightened One

I have been here six years and I would have to say Chinese women go nuts VERY quickly and hit new extremes I have NEVER seen in the west. It is quite possible she did slap him first, based on what I have seen.

It is also true you do need a SUPER “zen” to live here, but it wears off… being pointed at, remarked about, stared at constantly day-after-day just gets so old.

      • http://amazon.com/author/rc richardnorth

The Enlightened One In have noticed that any diaspora are generally quite stable (esp. in SG) and PRC ladies feel they have to follow suit. This proves a simple theory that Chinese people should take a break from their homeland and enjoy the welcome abroad. Certainly in Australia and Britain, Chinese diaspora are urgently needed to add Chinese DNA to the mix. This is a fact.

      • David.is.Dawei

        Enlightened One,

When reading your comment, several memories immediately came to mind and I had to chuckle with your comment “…but it wears off.”

I have also found Chinese women to be more PHYSICALLY aggressive than the Chinese men. I notice they have no hesitation with pushing, jabbing, cutting in front, barging thru, etc and assume the white sucker will let it slide because they are women.

With 6 years in China, I am sure you could share some great stories. You also must have a great attitude to remain calm – I am embarrassed to say that my tolerance level has been about 2-3 weeks before I started going native.

        Cheers,
        Dave

        • The Enlightened One

Oh I have so many stories, I could write a novel. Chinese women (mainland to the extent my knowledge) have two completely opposite sides like a coin.

One side is very generous and compassionate (this is the side foreign men, maybe all men, are highly attracted to), the other side is like a raving lunatic that, when mad, cares nothing about no one, only herself. She will scream, cry, slap, and generally do whatever it takes to make herself feel good. If that includes claiming a foreigner hit her or making him look like a complete ass in public, it doesn’t matter.

She may feel guilty for doing this after, but during the process… god help you because other Chinese people won’t talk to her or help at all.

They will all assume you were the bad guy.

Think of a western women on PMS and then multiply it by like 10, and if the Chinese (mainland) girl is PMS-ing it is x100!!

Not ALL of them are like this, but most are… where do they get it from? They learn it as a child, when they scream and cry… they get their way. We have ALL seen this. They carry it from childhood and throw these childish tantrums for to gain a sense of pity for all on-lookers and turn whoever vexed them into the greatest super-villain ever. If it is a foreigner, I am CERTAIN the result will be what happened here… regardless if he slapped her or not.

In my opinion, those Chinese mainland girls that have traveled abroad or studied abroad are a lot more mature and a safer bet.

          • http://amazon.com/author/rc richardnorth

The Enlightend One A useful read. Thanks. I will quote this profound bit: “In my opinion, those Chinese mainland girls that have traveled abroad or studied abroad are a lot more mature and a safer bet.” To conclude, I would say wherever they CANNOT get away with Mandarin ranting (e.g. SG biz distict, Melbourne, London) they have to shut up. An honest expose dude. Thanks again.

          • The Enlightened One

            No problem.

Here is the solution to dealing with a girl during one of those tantrums. Walk away, if you don’t really care about or love the girl and move quickly before a crowd forms lol. Just burst out running like you are exercising and say “I’ll be right back, I am going to get you some flowers.” Haha. Of course you don’t.

If you do love her, say you are sorry… and suck up to her. I know, it’s lame but it works for a short period of time. The permanent possible fix? Taking her to your country to learn your ways, first-hand and remove the “wai guo ren” barrier.

          • B*tches, Leave

In my experience it’s better to calmly comment on what is going on and what’s going to happen: “Listen … no, just listen to me now or it’ll be the last time you see me … right now you’re acting like a spoiled child. I don’t like, I hate childish behavior from adults to get what they wanted. If you’re not going to calm down and discuss the situation logically, then I’m going to leave you.”.
BTW, some guys (especially orr physically weaker comrades) don’t know how to act if a girl starts to hit them. Don’t run away and DON’T hit back! Just take her hands (by the wrists) and hold it until she calms down. If she starts kick you, just squeeze your grip tighter and tell her not to hit you. This holds will make her understand that you’re stronger (even if you’re not) than her.

          • http://amazon.com/author/rc richardnorth

The Enlightened One I have a theory – it is is almost the same as yours – that all women have the same hormones circulating. But in a smaller frame, a cute GF can become a raging lunatic not just at PMS time… Too many beers can cause chaos too, within this much reduced bloodstream. We also don’t want to delve into the area of unprotected sex and the testosterone passed on through internal ejaculation… No…let’s not go there…too many horror stories from many many years ago…

          • The Enlightened One

            @B*tches, Leave

I think that may work if you have one of the more rational girls and she cares about you. Of course, it would take a lot of patience and time before she understands this is not the way to act around you.

If it’s a girl that doesn’t care and just wanted to use you for something… this won’t work at all… it will make her freak out even worse. She will take it as some foreigner is trying to control (tell her what to do) her and let it be known to the crowd that will start to encircle.

            @richardnorth

OMG, the alcohol induced rages are the worst. If you have the misfortune of getting an alcohol induced rage mainland girl while she is going through PMS… there is nothing you can do. Best to lock the girl in her bedroom (with you on the other side) and hope she just goes to sleep before the neighbors calls the police claiming that a foreigner is killing a poor innocent Chinese girl.

If it is in the streets, just hope to god she passes out… I have never seen people go so inanely bonkers as Chinese women that are drunk and pissed off at someone…

  • jon

Makes me ashamed to be chinese.

Beat up the foreigner, to afraid to lift a hand against Li gang’s son.

    Money hungry cowards.

    • Risible

@Jon, don’t be ashamed of being chinese. That’s just wrong. Be ashamed if you are like Li Gang’s son etc but, it is obvious you are not anything like him. So be cool man. Cool?

      • kw

        that’s a cool comment man.
        and Jon,that’s right.
don’t be ashamed to be chinese.
it’s how you behaves that matters.

    • bomber

Don’t be ashamed of being Chinese. There are many good people out there, and a good number of them happen to be from China.

Be ashamed of the way the CCP has destroyed the culture of China. Be ashamed of the way the society has been sold a false bill of goods in the form of “Let some people get rich first” while what they really mean is “Let CCP cronies and their friends get rich and then shut up when we close the door on all you slaves.” Be embarassed that the Party always promotes an Us vs. Them mentality when it comes to foreigners. But don’t be embarasses to be Chinese. As long as you know and you’re a good person, nation and ethnicity don’t really matter.

      • Dr SUN

        some great posts here

  • Foreign Devil

BTW. . Is Yang Rui still interviewing foreigners on Channel 9 CCTV after all that controversy? Any foreigner who agrees to be interviewed by him is truly a sell-out and performing monkey. You all have a chance to make him lose his current job by refusing to be interviewed by him. I hope your all doing that! To me it is the biggest hypocrisy to see this guy making his living, fake smiling and interviewing foreigners who he apparently despises.

    • markus

if he is still working for CCTV its a huge insult to lao wai and he should post an online video saing sorry to wai guo =p

No seriously now, it’s a huge insult to foreigners if he is still interviewing foreigners after the comments he made

    • P. Liao

I’ll second that, well said. And he’s a hypocrite. Studied at Wales University and his own daughter is studying is U.S.A. Has laowai aspirations, wears the Brit flat cap, the shades, drives a Benz……… lol.

  • Wei_Hello_Are_You_There?

Does the unruly element in China realise that Chinese people also move abroad to settle in other countries? They are accepted as residents, free to get on with their lives, have arguments, make friends and generally mind their own business without being referred to as “foreigners” and a host of other horribly divisive names? Or does everyone that moves to China, who is not 100% Chinese and who was not born in China, have to put up with such nonsense?

    • Kukuku

“does everyone that moves to China, who is not 100% Chinese and who was not born in China, have to put up with such nonsense?”

      Yes.

    • wacky

strange comment, i think those who dont have chinese passport regardless of ethnicity are foreigner whether they are ethnic chinese or not.
when i was in china me and most of my friend refer to ourselves as foreigner when talking to a chinese person
and yes a chinese who is living in the US even for more than 10 years is still a foreigner as long as he/she is not yet naturalized
what is wrong with being a foreigner????

      • Chom

nothing wrong with being a foreigner, its the way people refer to foreigners here. I want to ask you honestly, because I am not sure, is there any different between “wai guo ren” and “lao wai” Some of my Chinese friends said “laowai” is offensive, others said its not.

        • ry

Wai guo ren is “foreign country person”

lao wai “foreigner” (not from here, or not native of here)

I’m Asian and I call myself laowai. I even say it to other Chinese folks.

It’s like how people call them, in America, “aliens.” Anything can be taken out of context to make it sound horrible.

        • Stu

It’s not inherently offensive. Chinese people generally use both without meaning to offend- although there are exceptions. But it is of course a generalisation which often does end up offending non-Chinese- and some Chinese people have realised this.

        • Bo Xilai For Emperor

Nah who cares, the real people who uses these words “Chink, Lao Wai, Black ghost – which I’ve overheard many times in Guangzhou” all these people who used these terms are mostly; 1 used on the internet forums where their anonymity protects them from physical backlashes or in tiny little whispers (but I still overheard it) Nobody, not the chinese, not the rednecks or even blacks dare to say it to someone’s face under “normal” circumstances. Which reminds me of a really funny video where 3 white boys tried to beat up a brotha on Vancouver Island and all 3 white boys can’t even take on 1 brotha, what a pack of losers trailer park level

          • BigJ

Black Ghost???!!!?? That is a cool name!!Better then cracker.Black people have all the cool shit.

          • Bo Xilai For Emperor

Yeah I was riding the skytrain home in Vancouver, and I heard some old Cantonese lady whispered something to her grandson “…..black ghost (Hai gwei or something..don’t know how to spell it in Canton english or whatever) thinking that I would’ve never understood it, but whatever, people say what they want to say in whims and whispers or hide themselves behind the computer screen and give out racist rants.

    • Zappa Frank

as long as words like “country” and “nation” have a meaning there will always be foreigners too. I guess you may be american, maybe there is a bit different, lot of different people, nobody really fell foreigner. But in most of countries there’s this distinction, not just in China. Chinese also are considered foreigners themselves when in other countries.. maybe not in USA, but i can assure that in many europeans countries they get the same treatment as foreigners in chian or worst..they can even get the citizenship, but they’ll remain foreigners in the eyes of the others.

      • The Enlightened One

I have personally heard Chinese refer to other people, while abroad, as wai guo ren or lao wai…. when they are the wai guo ren. It is a messed up mentality that is used by the government to turn on their hatred like a flood dam.

I told them to NEVER refer to me as a wai guo ren, in my own country.

        • Alain

          Well said the englightened one.

While waiting for a flight in Dubai INTERNATIONAL airport, I overheard two very obviously mainland chinese guys from their dress and mannerisms, say something laowai in Chinese. Shocked that a round eyed white man could understand them they started profusely not apologizing, but denying that they had said anything wrong, and that I couldn’t understand chinese as I was a foreigner. When in fact, in Dubai, they are indeed as much a foreigner as I am.

yes, they need to be called on this crap, especially so in your own country….

      • Risible

@zippo frank, that’s because they carry a superiority complex, refuse to integrate, refuse to even talk to anyone not chinese. Who’s to blame? Oh of course, the europeans! For giving your friends citizenship, welcoming them to their country, providing education, medical care, social benefits. What horrible people.

      • The Enlightened One

At least they can GET citizenship. That alone says a ton. As for foreigners in China… you know what you get….?

A three to six month (one YEAR if you bribe the official) tourist-family visa.

Oh, you can’t work in China either legally. And each time you get it, they threaten to investigate you (which they would probably do if they weren’t so lazy). You know why? Because they DON’T want foreigners here but have to abide by some sort of international human rights.

Oh, there is the fabled (five year and ten year resident visas)…. if you want to invest like a million dollars into China… but I have NEVER met anyone who has one of these.

Citizenship is impossible and even if we did have it… Chinese people were never think of us as an “insider” for even a fraction of a moment.

Maybe this will change in the future.

        • Dr SUN

          somehow I doubt it

  • brian

I just communicated with Walmart media relations. They were aware of the incident and said that this person is not their employee.

  • P. Liao

Please everyone grow up. I am a foreigner living in China for 10 years. You get idiot foreigners in China just like you get idiot Chinese, or any other nationality for that matter, living in other foreign countries (Chinese guy rapes girl on the street in Ireland for instance, but no one was chanting ‘death to all Chinese.’). So I suppose if the guy in the car had been Chinese and he lost his temper after the Chinese girl on the bike dented his car it would be o.k? And as for this preferential treatment of foreigners…. well I was personally fined 20rmb for riding my electric bike on the road and when my Australian friend had 50,000rmb stolen on a bus he was basically told by the police ‘tough luck’, weren’t prepared to help. So all I am saying is keep things in perspective and we are not all the same, just as you are not all the same.

    • Chom

About that Chinese guy in Ireland, its important to note 1) That was the first and only instance of rape by a Chinese national in Ireland 2) The Chinese community in Ireland of course fully condemned it.

      • P. Liao

About the laowai in Beijing allegedly raping a woman. It is important to note that I don’t really know if any other foreigner has committed rape in China, but I’m pretty sure there are many cases of Chinese committing rape in China (I can give you sources if you really need but it is late here now). 2. The foreign community most definitely condemned this guy for his actions. 3. The Chinese internet community was calling for death to all foreigners in China. 4. On the other hand there was no such reaction in Ireland. People had the intellect to work out for themselves that this was an isolated incident and not all Chinese are uncontrollable rapists.

        • Chom

wow, P. Liao, what’s wrong with you? I was just pointing out some facts about that case, that’s all. Why so combative?

Also, your points are massive generalizations:
“2. The foreign community most definitely condemned this guy for his actions. 3. The Chinese internet community was calling for death to all foreigners in China. ”

For point 2, just from reading comments here, I know there were a variety of views. And point 3 is just ridiculous… A few scumbag nationalists do not represent “the Chinese internet community”

I’m also in China btw, is it past your bed time already? If you have sources that support your points 100%, I am waiting..

          • P. Liao

Yes I know. I do love China, that is why I have stayed for so long. Chinese on the whole are really great and welcoming to foreigners. Have had many good experiences here and am often amazed at how friendly and welcoming to foreigners the Chinese are. You are right of course, there are great generalisations from both quarters. Just wanting to put the other point of view over and keep things in balance. Even after the unfortunate incident I referred to I did not feel any difference in mood in the people here towards us. Long may it continue!

          • Risible

@Chom, earlier you mentioned you are african-american. It appears that you may not be after all, given the ‘china defense’ theme of your posts. Or maybe you ARE african-american but, have a local girlfriend standing next to you, glaring while she dictates what you must write-what she cannot write.

It’s one or the other man.

          • Chom

@ Risible So you are saying, as an African-American, I can’t make some points that are not anti-Chinese? The only reason you think its “one or the other” is you can’t comprehend that the world is full of people with different opinions. Just because I am not Chinese doesn’t automatically mean I need to be anti-Chinese.

        • Risible

P.Liao. Laowai allegedly raping a woman? She had her legs wrapped around his in the video that was posted on this very site. You chinese men think every local woman being banged by a foreigner is being raped. Yes they may scream but we all know that’s for a whole different reason;-)

          • linette

Chom..don’t bother with Risible. You and I know he can’t get laid by any China women that is why he is so mad. Coming here all day talking shit about men in China being unmanly, and women in China being whores. Risible tried so hard and yet can’t get any pussy. Then he complained China chinese are unreasonable. hahah..Not even the low quality ones want him. Him needs to go for gay chinese men if he wants it so bad up his ass. lol.

          • http://amazon.com/author/rc richardnorth

Sometimes, men with extremely large penises need shedloads of lubrication, can cause pain at the cervical cartilage, and especially have condom difficulties and potential promiscuity issues bought over from the West, such as chlamydia. Most women, apart from prostitutes, find desperate and rude men offputting; even if they have the penis of Lexington Steele, Tommy Gunn or Peter North.

          • simon

The only reason they scream when they see you is because at night you suddenly appear out of nowhere ;)

          • P. Liao

LOL. Did you read my posts? Yes I know. Think I was kind of sticking up for the foreigner here. I am after all from the U.K myself and therefore not Chinese as you seen to assume! (Hence, I hope, my rather excellent command of the English language).

    • wafflestomp

Why would you be carrying 50K in cash on a bus without keeping the most eagle eye ever on it? Banks too hard for him? Too cheap for a taxi?

      • P. Liao

Towards buying an apartment. Due to restrictions on foreign currency exchange/imports this kind of cash run from Hong Kong is forced upon us.

        • wafflestomp

If I was carrying 50k I’d of had that shit in a bag on my belly while popping caffeine pills. I remember taking 10K back to Canada and I was wide awake the WHOLE trip with my bag.

        • eddie9684

          that doesn’t answer his question.

carrying 50k in a bus is plain stupid.. and i bet he carried it in a thing that looked very obvious…

          • P. Liao

No it wasn’t in a safe. Must admit though that I would have had it held close to my chest the whole time too but then maybe I just cannot afford to lose 50,000 as easily as others maybe able too.

  • CT

This will be consider as an assault case in the USA, the woman can press charge against him. No matter where you are, a man should never hit a woman. Shameless pig.

    • Risible

@CT, just arrived in the US have we? Sing that song to your country people. Chinese men beat the shit out of local women on a regular basis. Not correct but, it happens. What of those shameless pigs?

    • Nanny Hiccups

I agree, he is shameless. Look how haughty that fat ugly foreigner is, with his arms folded across his chest, so unapologetic, like he is so superior to those people banging on his windows and screaming frothy at the mouth with anger. He sits there, with his forehead sloping like a caveman with a mullet in the back. I would have beat him just for being ugly.

      • Capt. WED

oh come on we don’t have enough information to make that call.

No matter, the point is mob mentality sucks. What should happen is a few people should intervene, call the damn police, everyone else standing around get on with their business. This is typical behavior with Chinese people. Anytime the smallest thing that happen a million people will gather around and gawk. Usually doing absolutely nothing. Just standing their like a bunch of dumb asses. Then again, the people on this forum act like this only happen to them. It happens to everyone in China. China sucks.

        • Capt. WED

I just watched the video cos earlier I had to get ready.

Damn. This is exactly what I hate about China.

No matter what that guy did (we don’t know what happen at all), he does not deserve a mob like that. Especially if you listen to what the people were saying that’s typical Chinese “redneck” behavior. They do this type of stuff to each other all the time but when a foreigner is involved it automatically becomes Chinese VS. This happens with people in cities vs. migrants too. It’s just fucked up on so many levels. China sucks.

          • Capt. WED

With that said, similar stuff like this can happen in the West, just on a different level.

      • http://soundcloud.com/starhawk-1 Little Wolf

Yeah right, nanny, cuz you were there and know everything that happened and have shitloads of experience seeing how quickly and easily Chinese mob mentality goes off and know everything that was going through that “ugly” guy’s brain at the time.

I would never spit on a woman (though I’ve been tempted to) but I’ve spat on plenty of motherfuckers that deserved way worse. The Hangzhou Zoo was the scene of the quickest date in my life. I had only been here a few weeks at the time and was even more naive about mob mentality in China than you. The first animal exhibit we came to was a giant sloth bear in a pit with his face covered in spit. And I noticed a man and his son leaning over the rail hocking loogeys on the bear (a really excellent father/son bonding experience) I asked the girl I was with to tell the man to stop or I was going to show him what it was like to get spat on right in front of his son. The girl refused to even say a word, not wanting to cause a scene so I proceeded to give “Dad” an example of the indignity he was inflicting on that poor bear. The girl stormed off in a huff and that was the last I ever saw of her. And good riddance to that useless bitch whose “face” was more important than speaking up on behalf of an innocent, pitiful bear. Dad and son disappeared, presumbably to fetch some cops or something but nobody accosted me as I just kept strolling through the zoo wishing I had an Uzi to spray the place as every exhibit I came across was completely disgusted watching the animals get teased and trash thrown at them and a whole array of abuses.

I also hurled an orange that made a frozen rope straight to the head of a lead-foot bus driver that caused alot of passengers to be thrown out of their seats and the standing passenger flying to the back of the bus. There was only applause from the passengers as the driver screamed bloody murder and that was the catalyst for them to unload on the driver. So…you never know how these things are going to go down.

Either way. I am completely unrepentant for any of my actions and prepared to deal with any consequences. Which is probably why I’ve managed to avoid any after more than 10 years here.

        • Nanny Hiccups

I couldn’t even read all of this crap because it’s the same thing with you. “yeah, i was there and then i said some tuff guy shit, and then i flexed my muscle and crushed his chinese head with my bicep” blah blah blah. YAWN snooooooooooooooooooooozefest. Wake me when it’s over zzzzzzzzzz

I can see how the guy is looking that he’s got an attitude problem. and the way you guys talk here i have no doubt he did those things. it’s probably coala banana.

I been off the grid for awhile, having been in Lanzhou where I encountered a whole family of “little wolfs” and their mother, then flew to LA with my boss for 10 days where my main task was to keep him from getting his ass kicked and apologizing to offended Hollywood movers and shakers that met with him only because of my good relationships with them. I just got back 2 days ago, rejuvenated and the pallor returned to my skin which confirms my suspicions that living in China is bad for your health. Caught a freak summer swell at Malibu and felt like I was dipped in magic waters.

Nanny, again you don’t know a fucking thing about living in this country and criticisms from you have zero sting.

Ghandhi would have wanted to knock the bear-spitter’s block off, had he been there.

Glad to hear both of you are around.

moop- Sorry to hear about the jewelry.

            Ladies? Many…..

Little wolf, you are such a bad boy. lol.

        • The Enlightened One

I have seen MANY similar incidents and dealt with similar women here in China. A lot of them have very little compassion for animals and care only for their face.

However, that being said… I have seen some here that care very strongly about animals and wouldn’t dream of hurting them.

Unfortunately, that is the minority but I believe it is changing slowly.

          • The Enlightened One

Sorry, I don’t mean a lot of Chinese ladies have very little compassion. I mean Mainland Chinese as a whole… in my experience anyway.

As I said though, there are some that love animals very much.

          • http://soundcloud.com/starhawk-1 Little Wolf

TEO: Attitudes are getting slightly better as more and more people are getting dogs. The bear incident happened 10 years ago. But I still often see dogs getting kicked in the street for no reason. My own dogs are ok around girls but get real nasty around Chinese men.
The Hangzhou Zoo actually has a dog zoo. Seriously. All sorts of dogs on display, from poodles to German Shepherds. I’ve been petting the dogs and scratching their ears and the moment a Chinese guy arrives in the vicinity they suddenly change into Cujo while the guys try to show off their bravery and dominance over these caged beasts for their girlfriends. Sadly, I never seem to be carrying a Tazer at the time.

          • mr. wiener

I guess they [the caged dogs] really can smell if you’ve eaten dog hotpot in the last 5 years :P

          • The Enlightened One

Well, it’s usually the guys doing the kicking.

Dogs are deathly afraid of Chinese children (again usually) male. I have two cats, and they are very friendly. But some Chinese friends came over with a little boy (who was just curious and nice enough) and they ran away from him like their lives depended on it. Why?

Because when they were smaller they, and their mother, were terrorized by a small Chinese boy.

        • Alain

And good riddance to that useless bitch whose “face” was more important than speaking up on behalf of an innocent, pitiful bear

Good for you! Nice to meet a fellow foreign male with some backbone, and not some spineless foreign guy who is pussy whipped and has his head full of shagging his new chinese gf/spouse, and is afraid to say anything or stand up for himself, and thinks that everything in China is perfect and wonderful. Those grovelling, snivelling types are the worst kind of foreigners to have to meet in China. As for the primitive father and son, education would help a lot, but education in animal welfare in China is sorely lacking…as we know.

  • Bill Stack

I guess sooner or later some foreigner will do something trivial and be beaten to death. Welcome to China!

    • Risible

@Bill. Yes, Neil Hayward got that type of welcome. Not beaten to death exactly, a little more subtle, by way of force-fed cyanide..

      • mooody

It had nothing to do with “justice carried out by an angered mob”.
You Sir have too much hatred in your heart and too much time on your hands.

This society isn’t ready to integrate. Not with each other, not with outsiders. Why even move there? There are so many other places to live in this world.

      • yangguizi

You could say the same thing about the US: US society isn’t ready to integrate. Not with each other, not with outsiders. Why even move there? There are so many other places to live in this world.

It would be a ridiculous generalisation in this case, just as it is about China, which I presume you’ve never visited.

Nanny..Racism happens everywhere. Didn’t I tell you that already. It’s not strictly a China thing. Racism is everywhere. In other countries people get killed because of racism. Many many Asians died of racist attacked in western countries.

Racism is everywhere around the world. Why are we debating china is not ready for foreigners? Maybe not ready for poor behavior racist foreigners like Risible. And there are so many of them.
Maybe China chinese will change their view if more foreigners come to attend Ivy league schools or million dollars investment in China.

          • Nanny Hiccups

i’ve seen the worst of the worst on here so giving the benefit of the doubt has become a challenge. i mean the best, and will try, hard as it is, to not paint everybody with the same brush, but it is so very hard.

it’s easy to ignore westerners on the internet who espouse racist rhetoric because i live, work, and play among them and don’t actually know people like that in life, or have met any. so it is easy to dismiss online stupidity. i have a few friends, all of them women who are chinese who are terrific people but i cannot speak for the men. i have heard nothing but the worst epithets from them, a number of times directed toward me in a manner i have found unpardonable, so as i said, it will be a challenge.

          • linette

Foreigners complain about dealing with racism inside China. Do you know a lot of Asian are afraid of moving to certain part of those western countries? Seriously. They are afraid of violent act of racism from Westerners. Many Asians had died from violent act of racism. My mom would never allow me to move to certain part of America by myself. She always tells me she is afraid I will end up on the news. Like someone chopped up my body and threw me out in the middle of nowhere because I am Asian. It’s always on the news. I will not go to places like Kentucky being the only Asian in a small town of 2000 and the people are still using typewriter like cash register.

Other countries like France, Germany, etc….Asians get killed. Countries like jamaica…etc… It’s always on the news. You expats in china are being spat on. Us Asians in Western world are being killed.

          • hess

Oh shut the fuck up Linette.
How many asians gets killed in foreign countries every year? And how many of those gets killed because theyre asians? Compare that to how many foreigners that gets bullshit in China simply for not being Chinese.
” Like someone chopped up my body and threw me out in the middle of nowhere because I am Asian. It’s always on the news.”

          • CaoCao

agree with Hess, I have never heard of much news like this, nor have i read about it. Only once recently there was the case of an Asian guy getting chopped up in Canada, and that wasnt even cause he was Asian..seriously linette, thats some nonsense, though yes sure there is also some truth to it and asians will get racism abuse abroad just as foreigners get recist abuse in asia, but the entire kill streak thing is way too absurd and nonsense

            Hi Linette,

Unfortunately, so much of life is right place at the right time or wrong place at the wrong time.

The potential for violence is almost anywhere. Just try not to put yourself into positions that make you vulnerable. There are a great number of bullies and opportunists that will strike if they think they won’t be caught.

I have been asked by friends in China if the USA is really like the Wild West movies with people running around shooting at each other in the street. They really believed it was like that here. Since you live in the USA, you know it is not as violent and crazy as many in China fear. It is not worth wasting any time worrying about, but worth being observant anywhere you go.

I don’t think this supports your fear, but I saw this online last night – I’m sure there is more to this story that will come out in time.
(Another Chinese person gets chopped up in Canada)

I hope you Enjoy New York City – that city is as diverse as America can get. I jest that there are more Haitians in New York than in Haiti, more Puerto Ricans in New York than in Puerto Rico, more Polish, etc, etc. Of course I am exaggerating.
I find NYC to be a Nice city to visit (and then go home) I’ll be there Monday, so I hope the weather as good as forecasted.
            Cheers,
            Dave

@linette re: asian hate crimes in the us: i may be wrong, but i haven’t heard of any murders since the vincent chin case some 30 years ago. even then the vast majority of america was appalled at what happened.

unless you have something specific in mind, i think “Us Asians in Western world are being killed” is a bit groundless.

Asian-American soldier was forced by comrades to crawl 100m on gravel while being pelted with rocks hours before he killed himself

Private Danny Chen, 19, found dead on duty in October
Allegedly bullied by other soldiers who joked about him
New doubts on whether he actually committed suicide
Chen’s family say he was mocked and pelted with rocks

Linette… All countries can do is create more appealing environments for diaspora to thrive. Sadly the Infantry Division of the US Army Mr Wiener, Whiskers and myself would probably find intolerable, never mind a rugged 19-year-old Asian American “giving it a shot”. Sometimes you see the signs and you “abort” pretty rapidly because after all even the army is “just a job”. I would recommend any country’s navy for diaspora. The US / Royal / Aussie navies are renowned for lack of racism compared to the army.

          • sonny

@linette re: private chen: this was a tragic case, but i don’t think this qualifies because:

            1. it’s the army, everyone gets beat, bullied, and hazed.
            2. he wasn’t targeted because he was asian, he was targeted for being a poor soldier. (in the military entire units are punished for each individual’s failures).

my point is that serious hate crime against asians, compared to other crime in general, is exceedingly rare in the states. and when it does happen, the population is rightfully disgusted and outraged.

all in all, i’m glad this guy wasn’t killed by the mob, and i hope that folk all over try to be more considerate in the future.

          • Nanny Hiccups

Linette, I don’t think there is a conspiracy to kill asians in western society. Hell, I’m american and i’m afraid to go places for fear some serial killer will chop me up. I think about that every day when i see a strange man near me, or in an elevator, or by my car. that’s because we glorify violence and make killing women seem interesting, like a horror movie.

there are certain neighborhoods and cities i won’t go in because they are violent for everybody not just asian, especially in impoverished urban neighborhoods.

          • Mongojian

Linette, you should worry. So many Chinese get killed and chopped into pieces in America every day, who knows if you are not next?

Nobody would go to your funeral I guess…

          • Scott

“Like someone chopped up my body and threw me out in the middle of nowhere because I am Asian. It’s always on the news.”

Now all the Americans here should really confess and admit that, yes, packs of us look for Asians to chop up their bodies and throw them in the middle of nowhere. Americans (whites from Europe and Latin America, blacks, American Indians, immigrants from other countries – all of us!) just want to chop up Asians. Yes, that’s so common in the USA. Linette must go back to Hong Kong where it is safe, back among the triads, back to the busy streets of Hong Kong where she can be safe.

Linnette, you must leave the US this very instant! Even now people are lurking, just waiting for the chance to chop up your body. Buy a one-way ticket back to Hong Kong. Prove to me you’ve bought it, will never again visit the US, and I’ll even contribute money. Otherwise for sure you will become just another chopped up Asian on the daily news. Do leave now! Please! For your own safety! Back to your mother who has warned you; remember? 不聽老人言﹐吃虧在眼前。 Oh, I can translate that for you if you don’t understand.

The media in China does need the foreigner to blame al sorts of shit on.
This,so in the end the chinese can blame the louwai for al the shit
    in the country.
It is deflecting the things what are really happening in China.
I always say, look at yourself first then look at another.

Then how can you blame the chinese after being brainwashed for
    years and years.

They are not as brainwashed as American’s though, you need to admit.

Any laowai who has lived in China for a few years will at some point be the center of an angry Chinese mob. For me, it happened in Beijing when my wife and I (both laowai) were stopped on a scooter in the bicycle lane and a girl who was riding her bike and talking to her friends slammed into us and fell to the ground. Smashed up the scooter, dented her bike, skinned up her knees. We helped her up.

A mob just materialized. All were convinced that we needed to apologize and pay for this girl to get a new bike. A few of them kept telling some bogus story about us hitting the girl by carelessly driving the scooter. They were enraged and the mob kept growing. We explained that she was at fault, that we weren’t even moving when the accident happened. It didn’t matter, they wanted laowai blood. It was time for the mob to vent. They called the police and told us we weren’t going anywhere till the police arrived.

Fortunately, it was still rush hour, and though the mob had grown to about 50 or 60 people in about 2 minutes, they were assembled on either side of the bike lane. We slowly backed up to the scooter, got on, and maneuvered our way out of the crowd to freedom. The mob might have been angry, but they were still afraid to lay their hands on a laowai couple. Smashing property and hurling insults, yes; but pulling them off a scooter? Not so much.

Something like this has happened to almost every foreigner I know. In a country where the rule of law is unpredictable, mobs provide a safety in numbers that gives people a rush of justice, even if they’re just going to get red in the face and smash up a car window. If a Chinese driver cuts me off or causes me to get in an accident in the USA, I don’t blame “foreigners”. I blame the individual idiot who is a lousy driver.

But you can’t expect that kind of individual distinction in a collectivist society. Chinese people are conditioned from an early age to interpret an individual’s actions into neatly constructed stereotypes. It’s always “us” versus “them”; never “me” versus “you”.

    • Chom

“If a Chinese driver cuts me off or causes me to get in an accident in the USA, I don’t blame “foreigners”. I blame the individual idiot who is a lousy driver.”

My brother got called that in USA many times. Now aren’t the westerner racist?? The westerner can’t say “That mfker!” They have to say “That Chinese mfker!” Why so racist?

      • tai wai

China has a much bigger proportion of these mindless people, but it also has reasonable people, as can be seen with a few of the Chinese comments.

Even if it were the same proportion, there are 450% more people in China than in the US. So, that’s 450% more mindless assholes on the ground in China.

I think his comment on the collectivist nature is important. There is no word in Chinese for “individualistic” that doesn’t have negative connotation. “Individualistic,” in Chinese, means selfish.

Whereas in the West, individualistic means self-actualized, strong, while collectivistic means weak, stupid, sheep, “the mob,” etc.

No wonder we are baffled when they “gang up” on us. We think they do it because they’re weak. Conversely, they think we are all selfish jerks.

    • Hokit

“But you can’t expect that kind of individual distinction in a collectivist society. Chinese people are conditioned from an early age to interpret an individual’s actions into neatly constructed stereotypes. It’s always “us” versus “them”; never “me” versus “you”.”

A prime example of the Confucius mindset getting into gear. Though the “us and them” exists in Western societies as well. The difference is that the Chinese don’t bother to be subtle when expressing such feelings.

There is no justice in USA when it comes to car accident. I got hit so many times by another driver. Fender bender and my car is completely dented all messed up bumper cracked. When the police come I tell my side of the story with witness if any. He tells his side of the story(lies) with witness. At the end you can’t prove anything. It’s always end up No fault insurance…meaning my own insurance that I paid..has to pay for my damage caused by the other driver. LIKE what the fxck!!!….

Basically when you get into car accident in USA. Just make sure you think of a story to tell to avoid responsiblity. What was written and recorded on the police report at the time is more important than what really happened. The Americans all lie. They do it because they know they are innocent until proven guilty. :(

But I have a Chinese foreign friend who had his car hit last week (in Canada) and there was zero problems. The other driver actually wrote a letter and brought it to my friend’s house the same day saying it was her fault and not my friends. It sounds more like you have bad luck.

          Rod…what are you implying?

          • http://www.bestvpninchina.com Rod

That someone Chinese, driving in The USA, is likely to end up in traffic accidents and be at fault. Not all the time, but I see how people drive here – very aggressively, and with a lack of respect for the law and other drivers. Plus, how many Chinese people do you know, that, if truly at fault would say, “Sorry, my fault, here’s my insurance card and contact details.”

          • linette

Are you dumb? The Chinese I know here in USA drive as good/bad as non Chinese. You are required to take test in department of motor vehicle in order to get your license. You will get ticketed left and right if you don’t follow traffic laws, and the tickets are like hundred of dollars plus points minus on your driving record. They take driving very seriously here in USA.

I am Chinese and I have never hit anyone or car. The other cars hit my car. Minor damage. But they all lied during police report. And they are non Chinese.

          • http://www.bestvpninchina.com Rod

I think you missed the joke. The idea is that it was your fault, but you don’t know because you’re a bad driver. If you are a bad driver, you would also be unable to judge the driving skills of other drivers.

I’m sure there are bad non-Chinese drivers in The US also. However, it’s a stereotype that Asians and women are bad drivers.

            1) I was driving straight staying on my lane going within speed limit on highway. A guy cut in front of me trying to squeeze in between the car in front of me and my car. His right back side hit my front left side. Who’s fault?

2)Two left turn lanes. I was in my lane and he was in his lane. We both make left turn. He over turned and hit my car because his lane half of it was in construction with orange cones. Who’s fault?

3)Waiting in front of red light. My car stationed wasn’t moving. The car in front of me decided to back up because he stopped too far in front onto the crosswalk for pedestrians. His back bumper dented my front bumper. Who’s fault?

4)A car illegally double parked(or stationed completely/wasn’t moving) on a one lane street blocking the whole lane. I had to go around a bit in order to get past him. He all the sudden moved his car and his front left side hit my right back side. Who’s fault?

All those are fender benders and none of them were my fault. I never hit any car or people. They were all white men lying about the accidents. So why you say Chinese women are bad drivers? Are you dumb?

      • Scott

“I got hit so many times by another driver (in the USA). Fender bender and my car is completely dented all messed up bumper cracked.”

So many times? Linette, I have been in two car accidents in forty years, yet you “got hit so may times by another driver”. Linette, what was the result of the police report? Linette, the police decided who was at fault? Linette, I bet you pay a lot for insurance because you cause accidents.

Again, who did the police find at fault?

When in China it’s always a Chinese driver that causes the fuck up, so I personally always blame the Chink, nearly got wiped out by one of the fuckers today going back to work from lunch, he didn’t bother to look just drifted into the outside lane like the imbecile he is, squeezed through with cm to spare and then the twat just stops in the fast lane, how’s that?

I knew it. Nevermind what LED to the tussle. As soon as it involves a waiguoren, the Chinese side will always be the victim. No exceptions.

Sarcasm aside I understand China’s still “developing” and there are plenty of raw nerves that will take some time to have settled down. Case in point – the debacle unfolding over slabs of rocks out somewhere in the ocean.

It’s a shame though because I’ve had many positive experiences with well-meaning Chinese people. Whether their attitude and outlook will be shared across their fellow countrymen remains to be seen.

  • tai wai

    Oh, Jeez.

    Hey, asshole, you’re not helping.

  • Sea_Horse_Mirror

If he was black I’m sure the comments would not be so understanding on the videos. Remember that black guy who beat up a Chinese girl? People were screaming get out of our country, now people are like oh this one Laowai did such and such so he should apologize.

    • ry

Welcome to America! :D :D :D Although in China. Don’t know about the Euro-trash people, though… I remember one lady on a subway holding her baby…. making some comments about the Blacks… while surrounded by them… surprised that they didn’t gang up on her and rape her to death, as they usually do… because in west, it is so… because the movies say so… and it’s 100% true

    • vince

Hmm this is true, but it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone.

  • Sea_Horse_Mirror

P.S This was also some rich guy. I know when students in China get into brawls everyone just goes their separate ways and it’s done.

  • Anon

I just came back from my first trip to mainland China and boy was it a culture shock. For a country that managed to organise such an amazingly coordinated opening ceremony for the Olympics, the normal people sure have a long way to go in learning some order.

I’m not condoning what this guy did to react to the argument, in fact I find it despicable, however I’m more inclined to believe that based on what I’ve seen the Chinese driver probably went through a red light at high speed, while pedestrians were rightfully crossing road during the green man (either that or they were forced off the road by a moped at night, with no lights on, speeding down the pavement) and probably caused the accident. (And yes I’m actually a western born Chinese person in case anyone thinks I’m ‘anti-chinese’).

  • Nilerafter24

As for some of us black guys, we continue praying none of us does anything stupid like this.
It’s more likely that woman added fuel to the fire while stating her side of events. I don’t think a foreigner would just up and slap someone like that over something minor. Either something big transpired between them or one of them is a mental case.
Anyways, lucky are those who are white.
Many Chinese people will blindly hate White people because deep down, white is exactly what they want to be (White creams, plastic surgery, colored contacts anyone?). So no matter what, I’ll never buy into this anti-white foreigner BS.
I think if a black guy in Guangzhou did something like that, some idiot Chinese guy may insult or attack me here in Beijing over it.
This nationalistic ignorant crowd mentality is preventing China from becoming a first world country.

Some old guy was all up in my girlfriend’s face the other day (we’ve been together for 2.5 years), telling her how all foreigners are bad and that she should stay pure. I’m like how does this imbecile even get it in his mind that he somehow has the right to advise or protect her, to talk like as if he’s her father or something yet he wouldn’t do anything if say he saw another Chinese guy beating up or raping a Chinese girl in some alley.
Hypocrisy, ignorance, jealousy and down-right asininity.
(I’m not saying all Chinese ppl are jerks like this. I just run into such idiots way too often)

      • The Enlightened One

Well, I think we found the insecure guy.

        • Risible

@enlightened one, the youtube vids that Insecure One put up simply said it all. I am still laughing! I wonder which one was him, if at all. Or, if he sits up at night, pumping away like an oil rig, dreaming of his ‘white girl’.

My goodness, i knew they were insecure but had no idea it was this bad.

@starting, dreamer look, in the free world, we have to time to look at which colour is dating which colour. You, by putting these videos up, have just displayed your burning for the whole world to see.

Good luck with your foreign girl search! hahahah…

my foreign girl search ended up years later with a white ex-wife who took 90% of my assets and shared custody of our now 18 year old daughter.
i’m not insecure one, I am angry divorced half-Chinese man :P who is 100% Asian
and yes i blame whitie westerners for the chinese world’s problems

          • mr. wiener

So I guess it’s half your fault hmm?

          • The Enlightened One

Well, now I see why you are so insecure.

You blame the foreigners for all your problems. Maybe she left you because you are a complete asshole, you ever think of that?

Self-reflection is the first step to recovery.

    • Risible

      @nilerafter,

There are racist people everywhere. Most of them just happen to be in china. In the uk, i actually forgot i was black. Seriously. Then i arrived in china. And was told i am black. I looked at my hands and said, “oh yeah, i am”

As i said, racist people are everywhere. But for the most part, in western countries, people look for colours in people as opposed to the colour of people. In china, you are chinese, or you are laowai. Plain and simple.

      • ry

Haha! Really? You forgot your Black in the UK? Let me remind you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJoCSlYOqqo

        • Eddie Spaghetti

Yeah great example, you’re comparing one disgusting halfwit with a deep rooted nationalist mentality. She was also arrested, charged and is awaiting, get this, TRIAL BY JURY, because it’s illegal to be that much of a cunt in the UK. Can you say the same for you laowai hating chums?

          • Capt. WED

she got caught. Look up “racist on subway” on youtube.

I’m not saying you guys are super racist. Everytime people bring up racism in China then immediately go see that shit never happens in the west. 1) it does happen, 2) you are comparing a nation that just opened up in the 1980s to places that had “multiculturalism” for hundreds of years, 3) you are saying I can’t point out racism because racism is extremely rare, whereas racism is very common in China. Racism is not in your face. Also you guys act like subtle implication behind all this is racism against black people is extremely wrong in the west; racism against Asians is semi-okay; and especially on this website, racism against Chinese is justified because … China has a lot of racist.

          • Capt. WED

Of course black people are experience less face to face and other kinds of racism. You guys ARE western CULTURE, you guys have a higher standing, higher exposure, than Asian in the west. Asians are perpetual foreigners. No one really gives that much fuck about Asians in the west. People on this site is always like but hurr durr that shit never happens in the west cos Black people. Yeah fuck you little chinks, take that you faggots!

Oh I can’t say this kind shit on here because if I do then I work for the CCP. That’s some real impartiality right there *rolls eyes*

          • Capt. WED

seriously why are in you even in CHina? China has such a low human development index wouldn’t you be better off somewhere else?

          • Capt. WED

how can you even begin to make a one to one comparison like that since it makes no sense.

          • Capt. WED

Until F bans me, I can do this all day. Let’s look at this shit objectively. Logic and Reason dictates that black people shouldn’t even any racism of any kind. Yet they still do. That fact alone multiplies the racism factor by a hundred of racism in the west vs. racism in the east. Why is that? Ask yourself lol.

Srsly you guys want to do this comparison?

      • The Enlightened One

        That’s true of Canada too.

When I was growing up, my best friends were from Japan, Africa, Pakistan and Native-Canadian. We didn’t give a shit about the skin color, we just had things in common and had fun.

I learned and felt the true meaning of racism here in China.

        • Capt. WED

oh please. Just because you weren’t racist don’t mean it’s not racist where you come from.

Fact: Most people hang out with their own kind. Prove me wrong.

        • Capt. WED

“I learned and felt the true meaning of racism here in China.”

Wait what? You mean you didn’t experience racism in your own country???

          • The Enlightened One

Obviously, I am speaking for myself and my own experiences.

Never said there wasn’t racism at all. It just doesn’t happen as much but I am certain it happens in every country. There are always people looking to blame their problems on someone else.

I guess I just grew up around people from other countries and didn’t see a need to “hang out with my own kind” as that didn’t dictate we would have anything in common, other than our skin.

          • fenqing basher

Well Mr Weed head, as we all know: Exceptions confirm the rule.:-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

        • Capt. WED

yes let’s get rid of affirmative action. Bamboo ceiling doesn’t exist. No one discriminates against Chinese people. Oh yeah and Japanese people? They get discriminated on too.

Yes, learn about racism please because before you were apparently “blind” to it.

        • Capt. WED

funny. The other day on Reddit it was pages after pages of story about racism against natives in Canada. I loled.

          • jeffli

            Canadians love Chinese! tasteee lol

        • fenqing basher

Enlightened one, i can once more only agree on your observations.
          Racism is intense here, fact.

That is a lot of people to hate. What have you done with your life to make you think you are better than them?
You are a pathetic little twat in anyone’s estimation.

          • JC

            lol Good one, troll.
I’m not British-Bron Chinese. Just because I write real British English, doesn’t mean I’m born there, idiot. Well done, Mr.English teacher, well done, indeed.
            Keep trolling :)

          • mr. wiener

            “Troll”:
“In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory,[2] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as a forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[3] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.”[Wikipedia]
Seems to me a “man” who goes onto a story [chinasmack diaspora]about 2 brothers in the US who are writing songs in order to help teach ABC kids Chinese , and proceeds to slang off ABC as worthless and not really “Chinese” , whilst boasting about the 3 dialects he speaks……….is more deserved of the title “Troll”.
            You are beneath contempt.

          • JC

Good one, Mr.Child Toucher.. copy and paste much?
I see you commenting on every single article on this site, replying to everyone’s comment; got too much free time, troll?
What takes up most of your day? Having sex with little kids at your English school, or posting here on Chinasmack?

            Keep trolling :)

          • JC

” You are a pathetic little twat in anyone’s estimation.”
My, my.. harsh words from a so-called professional English teacher, eh? If anyone wants to see what Mr.Weiner here really looks like, check out this video:

    • M.N

And where exactly are you staying in Zhengzhou these days? O_o

    • The Enlightened One

This could possibly get pretty bad for you. I highly suggest getting out to another province or at least city.

    • sonny

      life is better in zhuhai.

    • Alex

Have been in Zhengzhou for around 10 days now. My girlfriend lives here. Happy to return to Xi’an tomorrow. I relaxed after I found out the incident happened on 17th. So I survived the most dangerous days without even knowing anything happened, probably like most chinese citizen here. They are still willing to to take pictures and talk about german football in restaurants with you. Or let you buy pregnancy tests (turned out later, it was already opened and a advertisement for the local abortion clinic inside).
Traffic situation here is horrible (compared to other places in china). Sometimes I wished a electric roller would touch me so I can let out an angry “A Ya! (啊呀)” and punish them with my death stare.
Okay, hope nobody will stab me tomorrow on the way to the train station.
