Comments from Sina Weibo:

皇上_臣妾知错了:

He’s definitely not a homeless person. [汗] He may even be a bohemian university professor…

FXVALSK-:

I have the same dress as him.

SunshineKathy_佾髯:

Many of the topics on Sina attract people’s eyes and ears but are meager in humanity. Shouldn’t the elderly person be safely enjoying his later years at home, yet why is he homeless? Has anyone looked deeply into why? This naked abnormal state of this society is disappointing.

黑白子L:

A publicity stunt, no doubt, the poor old man. I wonder if this sudden gust of popularity will change his life for the better afterward. [失望]

孟夏廿六:

Fashionable my ass… does no one feel sad? Does no one care about the elderly homeless person’s problems in life? An old man forced to wear a skirt…who doesn’t want to have a peaceful and dignified life!? Do you people have any conscience at all!? Can you all be even more shameless? When you [@郑在发生, the original poster] fucking sit in your office enjoying air conditioning adding text and editing pictures, calculating reshares and clicks, did you ever think about whether or not this person has food to eat? A place to sleep? Truly fucking speechless.

幸运数字55:

Is this really a beggar?

000金刚葫芦娃000:

If this really is a homeless person, don’t you guys feel ashamed for not helping him but instead using this for amusement!?

莉莲吉许:

I wonder what behind-the-scenes organization is using this poor old man to do a publicity stunt. For often doing such immoral things, may you be just like this when you are old. [拜拜]

娟小秋:

What’s funny is mostly the mockery of society. Isn’t [the government] promoting the “Chinese Dream” these days? This old person doesn’t even have a single normal piece of clothing, so where is the Chinese Dream going to come from?

小朋友best—sexy:

With regards to an elderly person advanced in age and suffering from mental illness, what we should be doing more is giving sympathy and respect, not treating him as a subject of entertainment/amusement. Using your imaginations to make fun of this without restraint only demonstrates humanity’s apathy and indifference… Let us extend a helping hand to help this old man. Let this old man whose age is over half a century also feel society’s warmth. This is what we should be doing.

Comments from Sina Weibo:

守护花的姑娘:

A bunch of morality cunts are again criticizing people for having fun at the expense of a homeless person blah blah blah, there truly are an endless amount of saints on Weibo. You guys criticize the original poster, but let me ask you guys, do you yourselves go forward to help the homeless people you come across? Do you give money? I bet you guys trip over yourselves avoiding them, hehe. Back when Brother Sharp was made famous, afterward everyone helped him, buying food and drink for him, helping him get back home. Is a homeless person becoming famous not a good thing? At least there will be people to help him! Can you morality cunts be more disgusting? I really want to slap you.

摄影师邢者:

Please don’t use homeless and mentally handicapped people to entertain society. This is a society’s indifference and sorrow.

Eva_Wang__:

This…is not necessarily [a homeless person]. His clothes are so clean. It’s possible he’s just doing this for fun…

方枪枪造大炮:

Everyone is doing nothing more than engaging in good-humored jest. There is no malice, no mockery/ridiculous. For the old man to live in this kind of environment and still have such style refusing to succumb to stocks and chains is an ability people admire. Now that it is on Weibo, there will inevitably be kind-hearted people who recognize him and give some help to the old man. A bunch of people with the heart of saints everyday saying people should do this and shouldn’t do that, do your hearts bleed all the time?..

王下幻冬舍V:

What business is it of yours what other people wear?

ClaireR9:

The old grandpa has a straight back, elegant poise, and is photogenic, not the least bit like an ordinary homeless person. [害羞]

成为过去了i:

I don’t think he’s a homeless person. His skirt and shoes are both new. [挖鼻屎]

五月天将泪水淬炼成笑颜l:

Were it not forced by life, who would be willing to wander the streets destitute as a homeless person? If you’re not going to help, then don’t help, but there is no need to use him for laughs.

虚空幻无:

How come I feel this is a publicity stunt? [哼] Look at his skin, look at how upright and healthy he is, not the least bit like a homeless person who has suffered outdoors. [挖鼻屎]

小包子nunu:

Old and doesn’t have it easy. Very pitiful. I look down on those making fun of him.

    • ClausRasmussen

Fake or not. He certainly has style.

    • Irvin

He looks like the mandarin from ironman 2, I think I need to start growing my hair and beard now.

  • bujiebuke

They’ve got it all wrong. This that crazy old man from Akira Kurisowa’s “Ran”.

    • funny

      I actually LOL’ed… Thanks

  • donscarletti

    1) Guy is healthy.
    2) Skirt is completely clean.

    It’s either:
    1) Completely staged with the guy 100% in on it.
    2) The guy is crazy, but he does in fact have a home and he just wandered off in his daughter’s skirt and bath mat earlier today.

Given it’s Henan, I’m going with number 1.

    • JabroniZamboni

The shoes gave it away. Considering how dirty the streets of this country are, white soles do not last 5 minutes. This is fake. This is Tommy Chong.

    • Rick in China

Not to mention the personal hygiene details – look at his hands, this dude hasn’t been digging through _anything_. Homeless people in China are, from every one I’ve seen, incredibly dirty..this guy is way too clean and tidy to be homeless..

  • MonkeyMouth

    Brother Sharp’s grandpa!

  • Science Patrol

He looks like a Taoist sage.

    • Insomnicide

He has transcended beyond the fashion senses of us unenlightened mortals.

  • Fake and gay

  • jking

Looks like China has its own Social Justice Warriors

  • Claude

He’s not homeless, just an old funkster. He’s as cool as fuck. The Chinese think he’s homeless because they can’t wrap their heads around genuine individuality.

    This is homeless in Asia.

  • tomoe723

How can they mistake this person to be homeless? One look at him and obviously he’s not. No dirt or greasy smudges on skin anywhere on his body… He’s rather clean, he even has a portable radio hanging. He looks eccentric, but homeless? Definitely not.

  • Edward Kay

Why can’t a homeless be clean? Some I know have jobs. Hence, they bathe in public bathrooms, petrol stations, etc.. Just can’t afford a house, or doesn’t want to go back.

    • Rick in China

Do the homeless people you apparently know… live in China?

Or are you applying your extensive overseas homeless experience to the homeless in an entirely different place?

  • YourSupremeCommander

When I grow up and become homeless, I want to look just like him.

  • Markoff

there are homeless in china? I thought the official policy was there are no homeless at all…

  • ptptp

    P-Funk in China?

  • Foreign Devil

Oh yeah we have taken major steps backwards. . thanks to our conservative Harper government and the rise in oil power in Canada.

    • JabroniZamboni

Canada has long been pandering to US interests under the Harper Gov. Energy gluttony at its finest. I still love my country, but the Harper gov definitely had an impact in my decision to take a sabbatical from Canada. That, and living under a PQ regime in Quebec. At least that has changed, but Quebec is a wasteland being mismanaged to hell.

  • Zappa Frank

except that many replies that agree come also from Asians.. poor Chinese loser you are..

  • moop

better dressed than most Tu Hao, thats for sure

  • IsurvivedChina1©

    The answer is 42!

  • Shuying Yang

I so don’t understand why people would think this entertaining. He is so obviously has some kind of mental issue, just leave him alone.

    • YourSupremeCommander

If looking “not normal” meaning having mental issues such as your little brain suggests, then 99% of the youth today needs to check into asylums.

      • Ah_FQ

There are no homeless people in China and no mental issues people as well! Strongly oppose foreign propaganda to discredit us Chinese!

        • IsurvivedChina1©

I would like to believe you’re being sarcastic or even joking but I’m not sure! LOL

  • Ohsee80

Is a chinese person saying “who cant engage in individual thinking and keep a sheep mentality by repeating and agreeing with the first cynical white poster”? HAHAHAHA isn’t that very basis of chinese mentality, no individual critical thinking and merely repeating/stealing what others say?

  • Cv

I bet his English is very good. This guy is awesome. Homeless or not he rules the streets. I think he might be cool to talk to also.

  • Doge Wallace

    Hipster Level: 10,000+

  • SuLiaodai

He looks like a Chinese Sun Ra.
