Government Website Hacked, Official Now Sexy Girl

From Sohu:

The morning of December 5th at around 9:23, Jingchu News received reports from netizens, the website of the Jingzhou City Bureau of Commerce was hacked, the profile page of government leaders was replaced by a sexy lady wearing revealing clothes. This reporter immediately contacted the Jingzhou City Bureau of Commerce, where a staff member expressed that they just received notice from the provincial Commerce Bureau that some web pages were hacked, and presently they were trying their best to contact the company responsible for maintaining the website.

At 9:23 am, this reporter logged on to Jingzhou City Bureau of Commerce website and saw that the column introducing the Bureau leader had impressively turned into a bikini-wearing “AV idol,” while Bureau leader’s statement was “to drink for my girlfriend’s birthday”. These two columns were the most popular this week, collecting more than 9000 clicks. At 9:28, when this reporter tried to log on again, the website was already unable to load.

At 9:36 am, reporter contacted the office of the Jingzhou City Bureau of Commerce, to inquire about whether the bureau knew that the website had been hacked, the receiving party stated that they just received the notice from the Hubei Department of Commerce and are already handling the technical matter, presently doing their best to contact the the company “Jingchu Time/Space” responsible for site maintenance. Finally, this staff who declined to give his name hoped that this reporter would “not report this news, we will quickly resolve this problem.”

The reporter did a search on the company responsible for the site maintenance for the Jingzhou City Bureau of Commerce–”Jingchu Time/Space”, and found two similarly named companies. Jingzhou City Jingchu Time/Space Technology Corporation is the local Jingzhou division of the Beijing Time/Space Technology Corporation; while the other company is just Hubei Province Jingchu Time/Space Technology Corporation, without any further information.

As of 9:45 when this reporter was filing this report, the Jingzhou City Bureau of Commerce Bureau leader’s profile page had not returned to normal operation.

Comments on Sohu:

The sexiest female leader in history, ding.

What happened? Did the Commerce Bureau open a massage parlor in their basement?

Actually this is what the leader wants in his heart!

The hacker has good taste.

Today’s leaders are not as good as bikini beauties, because those beauties are exploiting their own resources, depending on selling they bodies for a living; Leaders squeeze/exploit other people’s resources, depending on selling their dignity for a living.

The problem is that those young ladies are probably more committed to their work and more honest and trustworthy than him.

Strongly support!

The chief is very pretty!

Must be the chief’s mistress!

Very yellow very violent, haha

Lose face for us Jingzhou people.

A righteous hacker!!!

Hacker brothers keep up the good work, great job. I support.

The leader picked up a hooker and did not pay, so now they are coming after you!

Comments on Sina:

Heroic behavior, satisfies everyone.

A prostitute ultimately looks better than a beast.

The company that does web maintenance lacks technical skills

The leader says: I apologize, I put the wrong picture up, this is the picture of my ‘fifth mistress’.

Let’s keep the prostitute on there, she is cleaner than the leader!

The reporter is so shameless, they said not to report, and you still report it. Do you think this is something to be proud of?

Is this to boost site traffic?

Very good, very harmonious.

Where did the web police go?

Why is this site so yellow? Nearly every new post I see now is sex-related. Is this all for getting traffic? Please translate more socially significant forum posts, for example stuff on Yang Shiqun and his denunciation.

…Sign, apparently hacking a government website is not counterrevolutionary enough for you you. I suppose I should just quit and start a blog chronicling the life of a another Chinese warlord who hunts down commie bandits for a living. I bet General Yan would approve.

I might be wrong but I think the girl in the picture is Taiwanese. Indeed the place where the picture is taken looks like a lot a Binglan shop, where (in Taiwan) almost naked woman seels that kind of bettel nuts.

I confirm Jean’s analysis. The picture is almost certainly of a Taiwanese “betel nut beauty,” not an AV model.

I agree with HA HA the site is highly sexified
    Which is fun
But I like posting on the serious, for example what ever happened with the billinionare who was arrested who was in charge of Gome?
I’ve done some searches which resulted in nothing.
Maybe his family is free for an interview?

Finally, real progress in the people’s party. They finally gave up hacking CNN, and the US sites and did something useful. “The revolution is not a dinner party, or painting a picture, or doing embroidery. It is an act of putting hot chicks pictures on govt. websites.

This is not as newsworthy as the news that some university’s president online introduction got hacked and produced a informative debate about education.

Hacking a govt website and putting some saucy pictures is as exciting as watching grass grow or using a magnifying glass to burn ants on a hot day.

Counterrevolutionary? Where did I say that’s the reason why I didn’t like this kind of posts? I didn’t like this post, because it’s not socially significant at all and the only reason it’s made is because there is sex involved. There are millions of this kind of small town local government websites and no one ever visit them. What if someone hacked it and put a picture of a cow or something on instead of a girl? Would you still be interested enough to translate it?

I agree Haha, does any other news exist in China other than sex-related? lol, I can only imagine that the people who are translating must be somewhat single minded (maybe a little lonely?) on what is relevant.

I’ve also noticed alot of naked (given some parts blurred) girl on this site..if the articles weren’t in English, people might mistake this for a Chinese porn site haha.

    @ Haha & Kane:

Dude, you guys need to chill. Sex is a mainstay of not just the Chinese internet but the internet as a whole. You don’t need me to tell you why. This website is about what gets talked about and sex gets talked about.

Now, chinaSMACK definitely misses some big stories and sometimes posts about rather inconsequential ones from time to time but, damn, cut them a break for posting whatever the hell they want to occasionally. It is, after all, their blog and they’re the ones paying for hosting and spending their time translating.

While I’m sure they must somewhat care to cater to their audience, geez, stop for a moment and just appreciate everything they’ve provided you for free. As far as I’m concerned, everything they’ve posted, whether serious or silly is entirely relevant to what this website professes to deliver. Would you argue otherwise?

I imagine they’re a bunch of normal people with an interest, not some professional news media organization.

That said, there are MANY quality China websites out there as well that may better fit your definition of “relevant” or “significant.” Try EastSouthNorthWest and Global Voices Online for starters. Both have plenty of great translations as well.

    @HaHa & Kane

As I understand, ChinaSMACK is about what is hot on Chinese BBS. Yes, there’s lot of interesting stories elsewhere, but this site is focused on stories that made a big stir on popular Chinese forums (BBS). I don’t know any other site that takes that in account. Most English sites that deals about China is about what foreigners wants to hear or what Chinese wants foreigners to hear. This site is foreigners listening what Chinese talk between them self.

This story is not about sex. It is about Chinese youngsters attitude toward local officials. On the west, everything is sex. Sex sells. Sex buys. We are almost terrorized with sex by marketing agencies. The story, although funny, can have implications for hacker, officials, local police, server administrators….
