Special Price Fruit In China: Watermelon & Pomelo

A funny watermelon from China.

From NetEase:

I remember many years ago, there was a post on the internet called “Bought a watermelon to bring home, but after cutting it open, the entire family cried.” After seeing the picture in that post [above picture], I laughed until my liver hurt.

This post’s high hit rate is unexpected, so to avoid unnecessary hassles, I want to state here:

1. These pictures have not been PS [Photoshopped], or otherwise altered;
1. I am not an internet spy, no ill intent to defame agricultural produce;
3. No ill-intent to slander the supermarket;
4. The incident is amusing, I just want to share it with everyone.

Yesterday, my wife passed by Wulumuqi Henan East Road XXX supermarket, went in, looked around, and discovered several special priced fruit. There was nothing wrong with their appearance or packaging, so she selected a pomelo, bought it, and brought it home in preparation for everyone to enjoy and savor it.

Today, we opened that specially priced pomelo, and the entire family all laughed…

A really cheap specially priced pomelo or Chinese grapefruit at a supermarket in China.

A funny pomelo or Chinese grapefruit in China.

A ridiculous Chinese pomelo (similar to grapefruit) with more skin or peel than flesh.

Comments from NetEase:

The result of being cheap. Did you not use your toe to think what kind of pomelo 1 RMB can buy?

This is maybe a one in a hundred million occurance…
…and it happened to you.
Quickly go buy a lottery ticket.

I would rather see your entire family’s laughing PP [picture].

Stop laughing, okay? Do not laugh at “other people’s” misery. It was difficult enough just to grow to this point!  [referring to the pomelo]

This is a pomelo in pregnancy.

Too hilarious, my superior looked at me for laughing out loud, but he ended up wildly laughing out loud too.

That pomelo has too much personality.

Comments from KDNet:

Clearly it is an orange!

Haha!!! Great deal, 2 RMB for a big laugh, helps the body stay healthy!

A pomelo with Chinese characteristics.

Magical land can only have magical pomelo.

Dao“, almost chocked–was just drinking tea.

Could it be nationally exempt?
[One of the reasons why many people were angry about the Sanlu fake milk powder incident was because it said it was so good and safe that the government exempted it from inspection.]

Comments from Douban:

Quickly go apply for a Guiness world record.

The weather was too cold…the pomelo wore too much…

The pomelo is even more amusing/funny hahahahahaha
